I'm finding this to be the good stuff. It goes very well with my ideas I've been thinking ... for factions and minor races, and making them special and unique.

Got some videos up for your perusal. As well as having some more going up tonight.
Elemental is Emeralds 5 Elemental is Emeralds 6 Here are some videos that I did that involve a larger map, a 14x14. And I'm currently working on converting some video I took this morning involving setting the super map up. And will post the additional videos sometimes later tonight. You can find them at my website. <a href="http://gorstagg.wo
Quoting Gorstagg, reply 59 I would beg to differ, my idea on satellite community growth is actually a new idea, and hasn't been replicated in any other game that I know of. This would be the first of it's kind if it were to happen here. But I do agree, that more ideas are a good thing. And there are many they can explore now! Actually you should definitely try 'Dawn of discovery'. You very much do satellite and sp

In fact if I looked hard enough I could prolly find your post verbatim on a much older board for another game. The point of throwing these ideas out is to give them more fuel for the fire. Wishlist. That the game utilizes an organic satellite community growth method. So that way, as your city grows, it naturally gets supported by larger and larger communities that do not live directly in your community center but support it. You know like the real world. But that hasn't ever been replicated at all in fantasy games, because of the unusual suspension of disbelief that there is gigantic vast distances between cities. (Wrong.. cities grow as more people come to them
Put up another video today, that explores the map making tools and my first map.
I'm just gonna say, I hear folks concerns. And I recommend you go back and watch some of my earlier videos for Beta 2. And see how very far the game has come along. Absolutely ... amazing. I'm not saying that anyone's concerns are not valid. I just think that with the time they've put in to the game and how very far it has come along. That by the time it is visible on Day 0. We'll all be blown away. Now that's not to say that there isn't a LOT more that can be done with the ga
Elemental Emerald Factory 4 new videos, 30 minutes of Footage. Utilizing the mod tools, brand new, no pre-testing, just trying them out live on video for you. Youtube is still processing the larger files, so give them some time to be finished. Just have to say, impressive work all across the board. You folks at Stardock have really brought the level up several notches on the expectat

I dunno, we'll have to see I guess. Yes and no. Say I make a new skin and texture for basic Chain Mail. Now I want to see how my created Chain Mail Skin will look applied to the chain mail and worn by a soldier. If the "Unit Designer" was available to me without me having to get in game, I
Quoting Crowtac, reply 3 Knowing Stardock I expect there to be very few "I win" strategies once the final version comes out. Good to hear. Personally I like building up then launching my tatics against my enemy. I hate rushes, if I wanted them i'd go and play Starcraft 2! It's a fine line trying to find a good balance in these games so there a no loop holes for strategies for people to ex
Great videos Gorstagg. You definitely have a good voice to listen to for these videos. Have you done any broadcasting or podcasts or anything?
On broadcasting or podcast's, not yet. Was tempted to DJ for w00t radio years ago, but didn't get a chance to fllow that up. So I'm keeping an eye out for possibilities on these fronts now.
Me personally, I like to enjoy the battles between enemies to much. I like strategic level play, setting pieces in motion and specific battles and their simulations. So that way you can enjoy the fruits of your strategies and tactics. (Ala Total War series.) The one that surprisingly worked out well for me was Dawn of War 2. I found I really enjoyed the RPG side of it even more than just the zerg rush of normal RTS's. Yet the RPG single player side was a TON of fun. (Because y
Alright, have another 10 minute video up. It includes another Tactical Battle. I'll be terribly happy when Beta 4 hits. Then I'll be able to do even more videos! I've reached my saturation point with 3C, and am looking forward to moving onto the next one!
The next (4th) beta is scheduled for a Thursday the 29th (American) release how the hell can you know that?!
Because Brad has stated that this week is the planned goal for Beta 4 Release. And Stardock traditionally releases their beta's on Thursday's. It's when they are in code crunch or bug stomp mode, (or holidays shortening weeks) that it goes out on Friday and at latest Saturday's.
Hey Panicwave, Glad you enjoyed the videos! Giving people something to watch and get an idea on what's coming their way and what's up in the future was definitely my goal. As far as can you win as heroes only. I truly don't know yet. I don't know if there is something deep down the adventuring tree, and magic. I guess it'll be interesting to see what comes out in the final shakedown. But in any case, if it doesn't let you do that initially.. I'm willing to lay
Hi Forest, Hello Trees. Missed yah. Yeah you too.
Great to hear about the Diplomatic Capital. It's a great idea for another intangible resource that provides benefits. Glad to hear the community came up with it and I'm personally glad it came along. As far as it being the multiplayer and having some or no use.. well doesn't bother me. To me it's an intangible force that let's you buy materials or gold or whatever, for the equivalent of being highly diplomatic. And for folks who don't realize the value of it yet, even a
That video on that was pretty good to though Brad. But this is very exciting to know it's so close to going live!
It would definately make the game feel more epic if the standard unit size was 5 or 10 soldiers and not 1.
Yeah but by the first time your running with 4 individual guys and come across a party, who's power is more significant, you'll be researching Party, and Platoon, and Company sized advancements too.
Armor needs to be done right. I actually do want all of the armors listed by gorstagg simply because it matchs the fantasy feel And gives us customization. Throw in magical enchantment and we got ourselves good armor. Also i am in favor of slainangel52's stat system. Combine the two and we're good to go. My only bit to throw in is that heavier armor should provide a moral boost. The Average peasant/soldier wil
I think Elemental will allow us to explore some really interesting game mechanics and to be frank, if we (us and the community) don't like an Elemental game mechanic, it's subject to change. Got another video up there.. with a Tactical Battle.. it's short and sweet.
I'm standing by my belief that movement should be split completely from the Action point setting. There should be Action points, used to perform actions, attack, cast a spell, use a potion. And there should be movement points that ... let you move a distance. Irrespective of your action points. And the only time you should see the two ever meet would be for a charge ability. Which would give you a powerful attack after your movement with you then no longer being able t
