ooohhh Steam bashing, my turn :) A couple weeks ago, I was playing one of the few games I have with Steam (Space Empires 5), and my computer crashed. Now, I have no idea about the specifics, but Steam apparently keeps something tempory in place in order to run, and that crash removed it. It handles normal shutdowns just fine, and the issue corrected itself the next time I got online... But for a few days, I did not have internet access, and since Steam is required to be runnin

Who says mines are completely autonomous and not sentient? Well, not sentient I get, but the fact that you are able to manually arm/disarm you mines, and target specific ships (if you really like to micro) shows that the mines are open to external commands. With that knowledge, there's no reason you or your imaginary generals on the field couldn't update the mines targeting parameters to adhere to a state of diplomatic immunity.

There was nothing special about the storyline in TFU, nor was anything else all that amazing, not even the over-hyped physics engine they never shup up about. Yet, inexplicably, it was a lot of fun. I played through it multiple times, always enjoying smashing my way through level after level (with the exception of that stupid Star Destroyer thing). It's exactly the type of experience I have my consoles for, and I will certainly pick it up. <h

I like it. Well, I'm not so sure about actual abilities, but I do like the concept of a sort of "last stand" mode that kicks in when caps are damaged enough that their destruction almost guaranteed. Let the poor souls go out in a blaze of glory and all that.
