hmmmm....... How about a lime green frame with neon purple and shocking pink pink titlebar details. Huge glass buttons set in a plastic outline. and...hmmmm........ (j/k... I think) really though, I have always had a difficult time working with yellow as the main color in a skin. So how about a skin with a lot of yellow (sort of a deeper tone though, not too lemony).

hmmm... well, I'd like to see my Futility skin ported to winamp. And I'm working on a WB skin you could port to something if youd like. In fact, that'll be open to anyone who'd like to try. Kind of like a less organized "community skin" project.
hehe, yes, polite. some people aren't so I always mention it when telling someone to send an e-mail. *s*
that's not normal. could be something wrong with the system maybe? Don't know. The best thing to do would be to send a (polite) e-mail to T-man asking for an explanation.
EventHorizon, alt + print-screen only takes an SS of the active window.
For the control panel, in skin studio go to XPshell - Background Windows - Control Panel Background. You have to configure the "colors" under the attributes section. the other part, I never even noticed so I'm not sure.
For all the things you all do for us "kids" (even when we're eighty and have grandchildren of our own will still be "kids" to you *s*).... Happy Mother's Day. (is this a US only thing? I don;t remember. But I mean for everyone anyway)
joe, you can unhide the file extensions in XP the same way you do it in win98. I usually prefer to leave it as a zip. for a winamp skin. the wsz format is just for automatic install.
If you look in the "how many is too many" thread you'll see him listing about 20 million buttons for a new skin he's working on. So, I guess that means he's back for a while. or, at least long enough to make a new skin anyway.
thanks for the answers guys *s*
Mercury made one a couple years ago that mimicked windows (I think 2000, don't remember). It would work, but it wouldn't have shell support or the start menu/taskbar. Which, if you want just the windows classic look, should be fine. Just go to the windowblinds section and do a search for "mercury" to bring up a list of his skins. You'll know the skin I'm talking about when you see it.
But sometimes that makes the file size so large that people on a dial-up connection may have a difficult time downloading it. When I was still using dial-up I hated downloading skins over say, 300k, because I knew I would get disconnected before I finished downloading it. Also, you can only add one size that way. On some older computers, setting a wallpaper to stretch too much slows the system down, and not everyone knows that they can usually re-size the image. [Message Edited]
I have sort of an odd question. Lots of times I'll make a simple five minute wallpaper, not with any detail or anything, just to have something to match a skin I made to make the screenshot before I upload the skin. Most of the walls I make for that reason I wouldn't dare upload because, even though I have automatic approval, it would not get through the moderation that the lower user level members have to go through (I try to impose the same standards on my own work). The problem with
oops /me gets dizzy just thinking about all those buttons! hehe

It was rude. He could have found a much better way to express his opinion than by saying what he said. People are going to have both positive and negative reactions to any skin that is on the site, and it's ok, in my opinion, to express those opinions, but please, if you have negative comment to make, use a little bit of common sense in the way you word it.
get windowblinds
It's exactly what I had descirbed in one of my earlier posts. I had to add it in notepad though, instead of in SkinStudio. SS kept cutting out the file path when I saved it. [Button3] ButtonImage=Futility\tbb4.bmp Action=5 Align=1 XCoord=87 YCoord=0 Visibility=22 Command=C:\Program Files\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds\Futility\Show Desktop.scf
I'm just looking for opinions here. I'm working on a skin, but I don't like the way the shell backgrounds (music, movies, etc) go with this skins. In fact, I've always found them somewhat distracting. I was wondering how many people here would consider a skin "incomplete" without them. (I'm not adding them to this skin either way, I was just curious as to what other people thought).
I got it working again. It seems I accidentally deleted the skin's derectory name from the file path. Want me to post the section of the code here so you can see it?
DavidK did SETI for the GUI-O last year. Still one of my favorites. *s*
dang it! I had it working last night before I went to bed. I changed something this morning (on another part of the skin) and after I re-saved it, it's not working. The code still looks the same though. That sucks. I'll keep working on it and see if I can fix it. If I can I'll let you know.
Put Show Desktop.scf into the skin directory and for the action choose execute command. Then for the command type in the full path for Show Desktop.scf.
Notepad and the windows calculator. And show desktop wouldn't be such a bad idea either.
