You can only use CursorXP (the program that uses the cursor packs) on Windows 2000 or XP - it will not work on 98.
GreenReaper
I think it's stuck in 1024x768 . . . for now.
Check that you've installed the WB3 Fastload patch at http://www.windowblinds.net/default.asp?page=download
/me wanted zoom (would require different zoom levels, of course)
I still haven't quite figured out why we're not using a private newsgroup. After all, everyone was collected *from* the newsgroups, it uses threading, and even OE has search capabilities . . .
Could be useful for testing routing algorithms, too.
Yeah, a lot of us are relative newbies. I've never *used* OS/2, let alone the game, so I don't know anything about, say, "Detail dialogs". ;-)
My experience of that is them coming, and looking and saying "hey, cool", and then going away.
Also, if you're having trouble with skins not loading on boot, check out the WB3 Fastload fix at http://www.windowblinds.net/default.asp?page=download
*clicks button until it starts working*
>Yes, the random button does work. It doesn't move >anything because then you'd know what its value was. OK, but it then looks like it's done nothing. ;-) Perhaps it could remain highlighted, and disable the trackbar?
Won't Alt-F4 work forever, then?
Stardock already has LogonStudio for the welcome screen (check out the Logons section). I've heard on the newsgroups that the boot screen is being worked on, but no solid date or anything yet.
Can we have the subject in the header of each message, when you open it (like WC)? I open lots at a time to catch up and review offline, but then end up getting lost. Oh, and my name doesn't fit on the screen at the top right in 800x600. ;-)
Do you have a sysoptions.mtd file in your galciv\gfx subdirectory?
As I understand it, IE paints it's own scrollbars (which is why WB couldn't skin it in the first place). Now, IE only has to worry about theming on XP. There, too, IE paints it's own scrollbars, but it does it by finding out what the scrollbars look like on it's own. Since it only does this on XP, though, WB can only skin it on XP.
Confirmed. Are we meant to be able to get to the main menu to save the game (when you have a save, obviously)? If so, maybe GC should just hide the start option.
First off, not having a way to embed partial screenshots in this forum reduces it's efficiency. There are bound to be many issues that are more effectively shown by a picture. Please can we have somewhere to upload pictures, and maybe put them inline to the reports? Either that or we could just use the newsgroups . . . Anyway, on to the game. First impressions? Pretty good for 0.00.002 alpha! ;-) There is "clicked" feedback on the entry screen even when you've clicked somewhere
45% chance of actually starting the game without it causing irreperable harm? I like those odds . . .
Alas, most people don't like them. Since most people include most skinners, most skins are non-bright. For those few skinners who *do* like it, they have to fight against the urge to create non-bright skins because more people will download them. Do bear in mind that good skins will often be colourizable - you can change the predominant colour to be whatever your want (*if* you have a registered version of WindowBlinds). Even skins that don't officially support this may be forced to via
It *is* "whoopie" when you find you don't have to worry about IE crashing and you losing an hour of work. I feel safe in Windows XP (and, before it, 2k), like I never have in 98, and that means a lot to me.
You can't. BMP is a non-compressed format (ignoring RLE compression, which is only for indexed bitmaps anyway). You can reduce the space used by reducing the amount of colours used (and then you *can* save as a compressed BMP), but for most wallpapers that's not practical - they simply use too many colours, and require smooth gradients.
ROFL Yes. Yes, it was . . . *chuckle*
Keep 'em short and sweet, but do include them - they can be a nice addition, and if people don't like them, they can just turn them off.
