neowin has a note on the site now about the whole ordeal. "Yesterday at 12am GMT Neowin was taken offline when our provider received a "Demand for Immediate Takedown" order from a Microsoft contracted company that investigates illegal activity on the Internet for Microsoft. The email was sent to the provider and not to the Server admins that lease the server, IPS or Neowin -its fair to say this went 3 levels above our heads and 2 above IPS. Neowin and IPS did not have the chan

i really cant understand why neowin would be shut down. Theyre by far one of the better tech sites out there, and they certaintly follow the 'rules' better than most out there. Grief, some of Neowins affiliates alone commonly post links to questionable software downloads regularly
thats odd "Hello Brian, We've experienced a few hiccups with our recent server reconfiguration but it should be smoothing itself out. Regards," thats what I got when I emailed invision services. They really went out of their way to host Neowin, its hard to believe they would just give them the boot.
not quite sure what you mean. If you open up LogonStudio theres a [Restore default CP logon] button
does the bird have a nickname?
i think if you allow the original author upon submission to decide whether or not they want to have full control or allow users to freely submit changes, there would be no problem and would be a wonderful system.
"try browsing the site when you are not logged in " oh ok, ive never browsed the site not logged in. Havent seen any popups period, stardock related or not. Skinz.org gave me a bunch, and some of the popups loaded more popups. I wont visit that site again, prob wont be up long anyhow
>>Wincustomize has popups now as well since when? I've never seen one. Me thinks your mistakin or have adware on your system
stoobear, going to hook us all up with a stlyin theme (for free of course) that puts XP's native GUI to shame?
I wonder how many of the people here that denounce warez have a harddrive full of mp3's and movies? I'll raise my hand, but guess what, I also have a car full of CD's which I ripped them from, totally legal
neowin has areas on their forums for icons, many of them are availble in icon and png formats to accomodate those wishing to use them on Dock Proggies. There are also areas to request icons http://www.neowin.net
sorry to hear that I'll keep him in my prayers

very nice. I like the inverted toolbar on the splash screen, wonder if thats an option or just eye candy
they always put expiration on the beta. Usually there are a few, and before the expiration wears off they release another build. Layering isnt anything new WOM, it just looks a little different on the gui.
err, never had to unintall.... anyhow, I have 7.04 and 8 installed and running without any problems
i doubt it Keila, I never had to install for any previous beta. Just make sure it goes in a new location
:hands Jarget a cookie: there ya go, now settle down
:sigh: the files in the zips are just the skins really need an edit/preview button
the files in the skins are just the skins, not the programs. You still need the individual programs to install them. Im my case, I use WB, Iconpackager, and Cursor XP. I tried the Sysmetrix but didnt care for it. Are using a preimum suite like toonxp/pixos, or something you downloaded of wincustomize?
"ssuming I'm right, it's probably a suite of complementary themes, but you won't know for which programs until you pull it into WinStyles. " Change the extension from *.xptheme to .zip and then you can install the components you like without using winstyles. I dont use winstyles, so thats how I installed the pixos theme I purchased.
png also works
i used mozilla for awhile myself, and while I never had any problems with rendering, it was just easier to open up IE. It's integrated into everything. I miss tabbed browsing, perhaps the next version of IE will support that feature
ugh, should be "Gamestop has"... need preview or edit.
