wulfn1 - thanks for the vote of confidence. I suspect having a full time job might get in the way of really making a mark here in the long term though. I'm just looking to indulge my current creative splurge while it lasts, but who knows

Who knows Travis - if the Wallpaper doesn't need much to get it accepted I may be able to just refer you to it on here. On the other hand, this particular one I foolishly didn't keep the Photoshop file of, so any edits would be difficult. Additionally, when I dug it out to e-mail to BoXXi, I realised that it was rather dark, and with some of the comments I've had posted to the wallpapers which have been accepted, then maybe this one was just too dark for most people to see it! I wonder if the
That's exactly how politics should be run - anyone who wants to be in politics ought to be ruled out by definition
So...*pondering* When I tell you that (for example) Ford Prefect didn't come in here and didn't ask me anything about the prize, then that makes /them/ eligable to collect it...but then, to collect it they'd need to be here which would rule them out of winning...unless they could be awarded the prize by surprise on another thread and appear here as if on a video at an awards ceremony...
OK BoXXi, I've mailed off the one discussed on this thread, and thanks again for the offer of taking the time to do this.
Ahhh...I'll e-mail it instead. Ta ever so.
Thanks for the feedback BoXXi. I'd actually gone off and done the upload idea in the mean time, so I've quickly deleted what I posted and tried to pull the upload. I can see exactly what you mean about what it would lead to! How would you feel if I re-submitted the couple of works I'd like feedback on unmodified? I'm pretty sure of the reason for rejection for one, but I'd like to be sure...I didn't actually like it much myself, but I made it as I thought it echoed the style which se

IPlural - To quote the official Eddie Izzard web site biography: "I was born in February ’62 in South Yemen."
*wanders in looking lost* Asking "Is this the way to the exit?" ...and then hears muttering about a prize?
My first computer nightmare was loosing the 5-6 hours of work coding an animated version of hangman on a ZX81 - when I bent over to connect the tape recorder to save the program, I wobbled the RAM pack on the back on it reset. That was also my first experience of computer rage as I punched the poor little thing...and to insult me further, it kept working without a hickup! My first computer nightmare of the sleep influenced kind was induced by many hours playing the game Repton 3 on a B
Jafo - Fair points, and criteria I'd expect to be applied. However, as an example of what has confused me: I created 2 wallpapers based on photos taken in London of the Palace of Westminster. One was accepted, the other not. One was taken from the south bank, between the legs of a Dali-esque elephant using its legs to frame the famous clock tower with a sunset behind it all. The other includes just the skyline of the Palace of Westminster in silhouette. With both pi
I would love the time to turn some of the wallpaper ideas I've had into full suites (including Dock icons, logons, CursorXP, WinMedia player etc), but a full time job tends to get in the way. In particular, for my own desktop I'd love to find the time to turn this wallpaper: https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=8&SkinID=14751 into a full suite. I can provide the Photoshop original image, but I'm afraid it's stupidly mostly flattened as I accidentally
Jafo - ta for the comments, and I get what you mean. If I asked for feedback here though, only the admins would have seen the submision to comment on it meaningfuly, and I could ignore any one else. I'm also facinated by what makes something popular here, i.e. the 2 most downloaded submisions I've made to date have been by far the simplest to create. Is there a corrolation between the clarity of what I wanted to create (and hence how easy it was to do) and how popular

Just a quick question. Is it reasonable to ask for feedback from the admins if a wallpaper submitted has been rejected? The reason I ask is that I've been surprised by some of the submisions I've made recently being rejected when similar style/quality ones (IMHO) have been accepted earlier or subsequently. It's strange when something that took very little effort and which I feel is barely acceptable is accepted when something which (I feel) has much more artistic merit is re
Sorry to sound all businessy, but one thing no one seems to have mentioned explicitly is Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). The lower energy consumption of LCDs is part of this, but also the life expectancy and cost of disposal (you shouldn''t just throw a CRT in the skip/dump of course...and it''s expected that they''ll be catagorised as toxic waste in the EU soon) We''ve just been looking at desktop replacement recomendations at work, and it seems clear that the TCO for LCDs is
