How about this thread gets merged with the other one in Off-Topic? Oh, and it woul be kinda cool to have the planet Pluto in the game A class 0 rock that you have to zoom in just to see

Yes, but that must also mean that there must be some type of other variable it reads. Which means, another can be added. Checked/unchecked as you research. I dunno, maybe there's an even simpler way to do this, first I wanna try it this way and then I'll see if I can shorten it.

Ive got this neat idea to give every race 5 class 14-16 starting planets and play on the barest minimum of planets in the galaxy, just to take out the "OMFG THE TORIANS HAVE A CLASS 26 PLANET RIGHT NEXT TO THEM!!!" factor.

I tried something like that yesterday, and I firmly believe that the answer will show itsel to me if I were to look at the Xeno Ethics line...

Why laser? Why can't we use Drivers or Missiles? No, I am saying that there is a slight change(infinitesimally small, but steal reasonably large to be considered) it might hit us. And the point was, wether it hits us or not, people will die in 2029. I didn't say Mankind, I said people. Just as they have been doing all these past millenia.

The TC have no special affinity to the Yor, but often they tend to work together because of their alignments. The Bright Flame is like a Holy War, Crusade, just their name for burning down a civilization. I gave the TC an inherent bonus to Research of 25%, with the abilities of Economy, Social, Loyalty(wanted to take Research, but that would most likely conflict with the inherent one) and one other, I forgot. They started with some good Computing, can't really remember. Their homeworld

Tranquility Corpus A neutral civilization, slowly evolving from a naturally-occurring phenomenon of silicate piezoelectric cells that formed a singular conciousness on their homeworld, the Primary. Over the millenia, they developed machines that were parts of their own conciousness, and have recently started galactic colonization. They value technology above all else, and are dedicated to the idea of spreading their Enlightenment for the good of the galaxy. They hold no special regard for li

They made this oh-so-complicated definition of a planet, that is pretty stupid if you ask me. By the definition, Earth, Saturn and Jupiter would also not be planets. They are taking it under further revisement First they wanted to make it 12, then they saw that the 3 they wanted in (Xen, Sedna and Quaoar) were no different from a few other bodies in the solar system, by definition(Ceres, Charon, Orcu

Actually, neutral isn't any more powerful than the other two. Evil gets realy powerful military and fast planetary expansion, with lots and lots of happily oppressed people, plus the cool choice bonuses before actually taking an alignment. Good gets sturdy defenses and some cool buildings. Neutral is the research-friendly option with the Neutrality Research Centers. I just took over the galaxy with an Evil faction, now gonna start with a neutral one. The Yor seem to be popular around here <img s

I really wish Stardock would finally make it possible for constructor vessels to carry multiple construction modules. I mostly play on Large galaxies(because after 2 years a single turn on a Huge galaxy takes 2 full minutes to complete), and I always try to reach the center with an influence starbase as soon as possible, and cover my own area with economy and military starbases, they really help alot. In my current game, I hold something like a quarter of the galaxy(blood

If a planet has 15 billion people, you can only field 15 million people. Realistically, it's alot less, but there are for example tanks with a crew of 3-4 that fight like 10-12 men, and the like.

I am addicted to starbases. A military starbase in your home sector, with nothing but a missile bloom, will mean the difference between life and death if attacked within the first year(I normally just make one small fighting ship in the first 6 months, the other in the second) and you have missile-equipped vessels. If you have a fleet of small or tiny ships, the boost of a starbase will double or even triple their attack power. In 1.2, it's good to use defensive ship-assists too, as the mechanic

I am currently maintaining 6 routes from my 3 best planets to the Iconian 3 best planets on the other side of the galaxy. The most worthless route is worth 47, the most expensive is 56. Large galaxy. It pays to scout out your trade routs beforehand. And to strategically place starbases around everything. There isn't a single pixel in my homezone(the area where I started, and made the first landgrab, roughly 3 sectors) that isn't covered by a military starbase, and not a single planet is without

The Arceans just tried to really f me up. I was allied to them, since their military might was second only to my own. Both the Drengin(who were mightily powerful) and the Drath attacked the Arceans, and they screamed for help. So sure, I honored my alliance, wiped the Drath and started to duke it out with the Drengin. After 6-7 turns of hard combat, in which even the Burning Volcano(my flagship, I played a custom race, Disciples of Fire) was destroyed, the Arceans contact me and tell me that

Why so much talk about starbases? This is a ship system, not a starbase module. I was inspiried by the multiple Ship-Assist modules of a starbase, but this has nothing to do with it.

I think it would be a good idea to have the different invasion tactics made into ship systems? So if you want to use Mass Drivers while invading, you'd need the Planetary Mass Driver ship system on the dropship, and that sort of thing. Makes things more planned.

I was just doing some Military Starbases around my borders since I am IEVEEL! and everyone wants a piece of me, and it got me thinking: 6 new lines of research, 4 researches in each. One of them becomes available after sufficient progress has been made in the Beam Weapons, and is called Polarisation Field. The Polarisation Field Mark I is a size 6 system that adds +1 damage to ALL beam weapons in a given battle, both friendly and enemy ships gain this bonus. This also applies to the enem

I had Ultradrive in my last game. It's not a research, it's a galactic event. Constructors with 140 moves... ah, the memories. No, I did not have Creative.

I've noticed what I think is a bug regarding Huge vessels and miniaturization. In my current game, I have a 170ish Huge hull, and a Mass Driver, which is stated to have a size of 12, only has a size of 6. BUT! It requires 12 places to be placed. Since there are no items smaller than 5, I always have about 4 excess points. Why is this happening?
