Bla bla bla Ironclad are still only maintaing 100 copies of the game, not 101. Have an Windows XP SP2 installation disk. Failing that, have a Windows XP SP1 installation disk and the full SP 2 somewhere safe, like on a CD or a different partition. Failing that, have a Windows XP installation disk and both SPs somewhere safe, like on a CD or a different partition. Install in logical order. Apply the usual firewall/antivirus/antispyware. Never ever never ever never update your Windows XP to a new service pack. Never ever do that. Always download all the updates and service packs and format your install. Seriously. I've seen such ridiculous things that result from updating an existing XP with a service pack that you wouldn't believe. Heck, I've experienced one, too! Way back when SP1 came out, I made the mistake of updating my XP instead of just formatting it and reinstalling everything. Among the things it seriously FUBARed a
Troll. Now I'm sure of it, beyond a shadow of a doubt.
This post of yours made me lol. Hard. Rofl even. Seriously, learn the meaning of the terms you use before you use them.
Whatever country is unlucky enough to have you has laws that the shop may or may not have broken. But since I know SD and IC are in the USA, I'm thinking they're free of all blame here... And any company that sells second hand games should take two point six seconds to actually open the box that was just returned and see if there is a serial number on a game card anywhere inside.
I approve this thread.
Bottom line: the shop you bought it from violated the law. It's as simple as that. You keep dancing around the issues, screaming corporate murder and greed, but that's what it comes down to. They practically sold you a DVD with Sins burned on to it, and charged you "half price".

Both Supreme Court cases involving almost this exact situation have found that EULAs are NOT binding contracts because they can only be agreed to after the purchase has been made or the software opened. I don't read EULAs because they don't mean a damn thing where I live.
A quick ctrl+a maneuver prevented any permanent damage, thankfully.

I just read everything Annatar found. Then I read it again. It was like a double take. Then I think I had a gamegasm.
Oh, I see these guys every now and then. They believe every thread "pollutes" the internet or takes up valuable internet space, so they make just one thread and reuse it. They don't reuse by adding new questions in new posts, though, they just change the OP while everyone is left with a dumb face, wondering how in the world did fifteen people agree that reformatting is the best thing to do when the enemy Advent makes carriers.
WTF!? Who changed the OP?
Accusation of poster known as jjz- of being a grammar nazi. Link to the uncyclopedia Grammar Nazi page. Smiley face. Questioning of jjz-'s relationship with his father. Mildly inflamatory fare-well.
Outrage at the ad hominem attack. Ad hominem attack. Call for a moderator to lock the thread and ban a select number of other posters.
Logical bisection of the original post, followed by a point-by-point rebuttal with a mild hint of sarcasm to outline the irregularities. Quote from the original post followed by a quote from dictionary.com on strawman arguments. Questioning of the original poster's upbringing and sexual preference. Expression of ridicule at the idea of 1v1 scout vs cap combat.
So if the initial Buyer sold the license he looses every right to use support. And the new owner can use the support. Stardock was already payed for this support.
But in this particular case, the Initial Buyer did not sell his license. He sold his box with the game disc. He obviously kept the license.
However, they are working on some type of e-mail registration and executable patching thingy that will allow people without Impulse/internet to patch the game. In a neat way, I mean, as they can already do it now by installing the game on a computer that has Impulse/internet, patching it, then carrying the game files over to the target machine by a flash stick or a DVD or whatever.
