About the issue that where fixed that I told above, it existed and was really fixed but where apparent in push button on top of tab panels and some other places, this screensoht bellow show how the now fixed buttons show on tab panels (not the tab panel is lighter than the button face color but the button paints without issues) and also show how the "workaround" will look.
Thank you!
That was a WB bug and is now fixed, you can have your free-form button back. That skins looks awesome BTW.
Perhaps I'm sleeping but my skin still looks ugly... The image is 32 bit TGA with alpha channel (by the way I can't understand why WB/SKS still not support PNG format...). So may be I need to edit something in SKS to make button borders transparent?
WindowBlinds 7.1 does not provide the option to disable this. I will see about the next beta introducing the ability for a skin to opt out of this.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! I'll be waiting for next update but now I decided reinstall the previous version.
You should be aware we do not recommend the hacking of Microsoft dlls.
Do you really sure that this is "hacking"? I think - this is CUSTOMIZATION some
You are deciding yourself. When you decided to install Windowblinds.
I'm using WB more than 6 years but this is the first time when I can't understand why Stardock's developers made so strange feature for this program... Seems they just try to find the easy way to replace the colors of IE8 toolbar. But this is a wrong way! If they really want to allow us reskin Internet Explorer they must pay attantion to ieframe.dll . <span id="r
Thank you tintin. I know about this but the exclusion of IE8 couldn't help me... My problem is that I made a perfect skin for IE8 by modifying bitmap resources in ieframe.dll . The skin worked fine until I've updated WindowBlinds to the last version. Now I'm seeing some ugly grey ar
I have the opposite view. That blue toolbar was ugly, the grey has improved it beyond sight. All we need now is grey tabs
That's right but only if you didn't edit the IEFRAME.DLL! Less than 1 hour work in Photoshop and I've done my own IE8 Metal Skin (with the tabs by the way!). And now I can't use it because of WB7! Are you think this is normal?
Hi Neil! Ok. This isn't a bug. But this looks like a BUG because it really disturb me! So please, tell me how to disable this option. I'm using the modified ieframe.dll which contains my own set of images to customize IE8. And these images are not gray...
I have a big problem with IE8 after updating WindowBlinds... Please, look here: https://forums.wincustomize.com/383635 I need any advice how to disable the ugly applying of gray color on IE8 toobar. This spoils my lovely browser which I'm using every day. Moreover - several times per day!
I found the alternative method for skinning Internet Explorer 8 more than half of year ago. It worked fine until I've updated my WindowBlinds to version 7.1 (build 273 - Windows 7 Edition). Now toolbar looks ugly because of it has been repainted to gray color without my consent... And I don't want to see any grey parts in my IE8! [e digicons]>:([/e] So I want know how to disable this option in WindowBlinds settings. Or I need to reinstall the previous version and ignore this update?</
Well, let me candid here: From here on out, the DesktopX 4 betas would be handled by Alberto, myself, and Nakor (the same team that did DesktopX 1, 2, and 3.0).
This is a good news.
But if I see another whiney bitchey post from veteran users, then we're done. Any normal business would have canceled this long ago. The only justification to do it is for the community. It's a labor of love. Do you understand?
Yes
The compatibility problems are with UAC. Prior to Vista you could write to Program Files without admin rights and so a lot of programs stored user data in the program folder. Starting with Vista you can't do that anymore (for compatibility reasons, all your data writing will get redirected to another folder in the user data directory, without you knowing about it).
That's right for Vista. But on the WIndows-7 DX is working like on XP (at least it seems to me...). I'm a
What I pictured with DesktopX 4.0 was that we would strip out the pieces that aren't compatible with Windows 7 and then slowly build it back up with new stuff via collaboration with the community.

So why wasn't that done with the first 2 betas? Or are you waiting for us to tell you what doesn't work before stripping it?
May be I'm a fool but I can't understand about what compatible with Windows-7 you are talking? I've tested DX 3.5</strong
Keep hoping ill make a living at it, but it isnt happening, nor looks like it ever will.
Yes... Unfortunately this is only a hobby which can make rich every one else but not the authors of widgets/gadgets. Even in so great country like US. Let's live with this sad knowing and remember a good days with DX...
makes me VERY sad
Me too, Dave! But I must earn money every day to be alive. The time when I had enough $$ to work on gadgets is in the past. It was a great hobby but it couldn't show me a way to be rich. Now I finally know where and how to do this but my new business is far away from DX and even computers... I don't like it but I must do it. [e digicons]:')[/e] May be one day I'll return back and we will drink beer...[e digicons]:)[/e]
I recently started trying to learn more about Visual Studio, DLLs also. It seemed to me that many of the basic widgets (weather, etc, etc) would be more useful as plugins...kinda like the DXPlayer plugin makes it easy to put together a media player and all you have to do is provide the graphics.
It's great, Eve! But we didn't pay for DX to study programming so deeply. The most of us (DX users) even has no free time for this. I'm sure that SD can cor
Nice. I showed Xen around at SD and they found it interesting. Nice to see you still working on it!
Hmmm... sViz is not hired to Stardock however she works hard on a new useful tools. It would be very interesting to know what Stardock's employees are doing at the same time? Just examines the sViz's widgets?... [e digicons][/e]
That is very true . . but much better than having to edit every objects font settign or having to add every objects name to teh array, right?
Quite right! And it would be great to see this option in DX 4.X ([e digicons][/e] ) together with the other our wishes...
That way the end user would have to do nothing except run the Change font object, right?
Yes. But where it will store the data? [e digicons]:omg:[/e] In your case this "object" must be a part of DX Client. Otherwise you must run it each time you will want to change something in your DX Theme.
im not an expert on all that dll stuff at all
Me too... But the " permanent and timely updating of DX" during these years has compelled me to learn this area. So thanks to Stardock - I've acquired new important knowledges. [e digicons]:)[/e] Excuse me David but I really can't figure out why I find any information about VBScript, WMI, DLL, etc... in Google.com (en-us) even without understa
Hi Zu, YES! For example you may create a simple Font Editor with DesktopX.Form: Then somewhere in you program must be several lines: For each item in Array("obj1","obj2","obj3".....) ' desktopx.object(item).SetFont FontName, Size, Bold, Italic, 0,0,0 desktop
H i Dave, It's really easy
Today is a good day for me. I finally found a way to work with DLL libraries in DX 3.5. This allow me not only to measure temperature and speed of CPU (for each core) and HDD in the real time but to make the Audio Spectrum Analyzer and display all of this data in DX objects. The test scripts works with 0% of CPU usage! [e digicons]B)[/e] So the update to DX 4.X is not interesting for me anymore . I
Hi Zu, I understand you. Each person is the owner of his and you are absolutely right!
When I left last month DX was still getting attention. The goal was to strip it down to bare bones and build it back up into something more useful than it was. With Brad now focused on the app side of the house instaed of teh game side I'd expect great things. The lead dev of DX flew to the US in September and Brad, he , and I were all very ex
"... since Zu left ..." This thread or Stardock ?

Stardock....

I believe the 2 are connected
Hmmm... Once again - the bad news. [e digicons]:O[/e] Seems this explains the last events around DX... Besides I'm thinking that we lost the last chance to see the finished DX 4.X. Do you know what happened with Zu? Anyw
Alas, the peak of DX popularity has remained in the faraway past. Seems it happened between 2005 and 2006. WC lost several great authors (like Tiggs, Martin, Will Rose...) which really kept DX on the high level. The main problem is that development of widgets/gadgets/etc... with DX is not a SIMPLE SKINNING like in WindowBlinds. This is PROGRAMMING first of all. And nobody will not be able to make really <span lang="R
