People who are less than average in the smarts department never seem to last very long here.
Good point. Honestly, I think that's it. JU's kinda like a Mensa MySpace...lol! OK, so maybe I'm exaggerating a LITTLE, but one of the reasons we butt heads so much on here is because most of us have spent a lot of time researching our primary subject matter.
Better find a disserted island to live and be able to do everything for your self and hope no other country wants to take possession of your island!
Yeah, the idea of the people controlling the government rather than the government controlling the people's pretty radical, isn't it, Col? You obviously have NO understanding of the history of this nation!
Hate to be picky, but that should be "The English World" as the vikings, very european, are said to have stepped foot over here before the Magna Carta was written.
Newfoundland, technically, is not America. It is an island! LOL! The quote is as follows: “if it was up to me, I would close Guantanamo — not tomorrow, this afternoon.” It's from a June 10 appearance on "Meet the Press".
(I suddenly realized, with my av, I can't make any serial killer jokes. People might take me serious!)
You know, as for getting rid of relatives... I'm starting to think that's the REAL reason gift cards were invented. Get them out the door for the post holiday sales, put the car in the garage, turn off the lights, and put a sign on the door saying you took a postholiday cruise. Sure, it means reading by flashlight in the basement for a couple of days, but given the alternatives, it's a pretty good gig.
Yeah it's a pretty damn stupid policy and only serves to frustrate the customer.
Not to mention insulting their intelligence. I feel pretty sheepish when someone calls in who has checked their connection, their neighbour's connection, the connection at the library and the bank, and every other connection in town that there's nothing wrong with the network.
I have to admit to being late to the game on this one, and I find it interesting to wonder why. For a long time, I have taken a stance on Guantanamo Bay that has been less than popular with the right wingers. Some (a very small minority, but enough to be noted) have even gone so far as to question the patriotism of any who deviate from the Bush administration's hardline position on maintaining the base and denying basic human rights to its occupants, claiming that the fact that they a
When I worked in the business we always planned things in advance and actually INFORMED our customers of service interruptions and gave them an idea of how long we expected them to last. Of course that was a number of years ago and I guess things have changed since then. Somewhere along the way it changed from "service the customer" to "fuck the customer".
The new business model is "fault free" technical support, meaning you neither accept nor assign blame. It's not how big it is, it's how you use it, right? LOL! Leave me alone with my lousy 17 inch flat screen! LOL! At least it ain't a CRT!
Texas! I'll add one (obvious from the post): Fuck spellcheck and grammar and syntax rules. We's da shitz and anyone who don't believe it can kiss our asses!
pork or beef
Beef. I save pork for the War on Ramadan and the War on Hannukah. A man's gotta have his priorities, you know!
I'm quite worried about the upcoming War on Ash Wednesday / Lent
The war on Lent, otherwise known as my annual spring barbequeue, will proceed as planned :)
Oh, and before anyone says: "Why didn't you get a bigger one?"...my eyes are real close together and I wouldn't be able to see both sides of the screen...'specially when I gits meself all cross eyed on the Playboy site.
Yeah, there's nothing worse than making a set of "A's" look like "DD's". I mean, sure it's good for a time, but when you get to the "DD's", it gives you dain bramage. Congrats on the new monitor.
I've been messing with BIOS settings ever since I've owned a PC. Nothing to that either. You just have to understand what your doing that's all. And if you mess up you load the defaults and off you go.
Not necessarily. As I just found out the hard way, on some laptops (Dell Inspiron 1501, notably), flashing the BIOS can mean killing your computer. Seriously. I now have to speak to Dell about a new motherboard for a customer's computer because of a failed BIOS fl
For years, we've had to suffer through the annual "war on Christmas", a hyperbolic happening invented by "conservative" talk show hosts to boost their ratings. I've always had a cynic's eye view to the proceedings, though, and I find what they view to be "persecution" of Christians to be laughable; frankly, any "persecution" that doesn't involve lions, fire, or torture is, to me, more than a bit of a blessing. If you want to see a war on Christmas, though, go to New Delhi (<A href="ht
Looking forward to getting yours and seeing your beautiful family! When is little man's birthday? I should know this, but I have a terrible memory!
Well, we won't have pics this year...We have some photos but I don't have good copies...we'll try to get 'em out eventually. Joshua's BDay is Groundhog Day (Feb 2). I'm trying to find a groundhog shaped BDay cake for him. If anyone reading this can find a pan, it would be much appreciated.
Hehehe... Destiny and Murron got CD players for Christmas...that was their "big" gift. Destiny was singing Hannah Montana tunes all weekend (they opened some of their presents early as it relieves the boredom of travelling between here and Goodwell), and I reminded her, umm, that's why those things come with HEADPHONES! Tobie's at that "in between" age, where she doesn't yet really care about music. She got a few games, and a set of "Little Mermaid" twin dolls (the twins from D
actually gid if you read the entire story. the next Christmas, the Germans had to threaten their troops with being shot to keep them from doing it again. the British threatened theirs with dishonorable discharges. and there still soldiers who tried to do it again.
Actually, I've read the entire story, danielost. They had to threaten them with court martial just to get them to resume hostilities in the first place. I've actually chronicled it before, just chose n
Perhaps it's just a bit of the reason why I have so many problems with liberalism. It seems the mentality for same goes back to those same words "tonight thank God it's them instead of you..."
I think the meaning is, thank God you are in a position to make a difference. But you're right, it could have been expressed differently. One of the things I wish would change about compassionate causes like helping the poor, is that we stop identifying them as a
I'll wish 'em all Merry Christmas, and if they get offended, oh well. If they return with a greeting of their holiday of choice, however, I will MORE than happily acknowledge it.
I would have left a long time ago.
Well, I wanted to finish what I started (my degree!)
Christian people are supposed to be of God, those are not Christians!
We're in agreement here.
Put down the political pen for a day, Col, and have a cup of nog! Merry Christmas to everyone on JoeUser, supporters or not!
To tell you the truth, I don't like being known for being funny.
And, honestly, I did not set out to be a political blogger. It just kind of happened. (BTW, you'll need to get my updated email addy before Jan. 4! I'll try to email you and give you the info.)
If Microsoft bowed out, the world would go on. I can imagine the talk at various times in history: What if Gutenberg bowed out of the printing business? What if Stradivarius bowed out of the violin making business? What if Carnegie got out of the steel business? What if Edison stopped making lightbulbs? What if Henry Ford bowed out of the automaking business? What if they discontinued the Commodore 64? Times change.
One of these years I'm going to get around to burning a CD of my favorite Christmas songs (which are almost anti-Christmas songs). In the meantime, though, I'm going to hand it over to the Kinks. The following are the lyrics to one of my all time favorite Christmas songs ever. Merry Christmas, everyone!: When I was small I believed in santa claus Though I knew it was my dad And I would hang up my stocking at christmas Open my presents and Id be glad But the last ti
