No chance... I like Sins the way it is. Space focused. If I want to play a ground focused strategy game of a large scale like this, I will generally play Supreme Commander Forged Alliance. The first Supreme Commander series... Not the second. They seriously screwed up Supreme Commander 2. Dumbed down way too much.

I did read in the interview regarding rebellion and they did touch on the prospect of the developing Sins 2. Ok... Maybe your right that it works differently with digital distribution. But I don't think it's as clear cut as Stardock setting the prices. The reason I say this is because Steam runs sales every day. Often multiple sales on multiple games from multiple publishers. If what you say is true, then Steam would have to contact multiple publishers every day to get approval to run these sales. Especially at the sales prices Steam is charging. Such as L

Retailers buy the products (or in Steam's case Serial keys) at a reduced price. Then the retailers sell them at whatever price they deem fit to not only make a profit, but to compete
Definitely agree with you there. If it's one major complaint I would have with steam, it's that they really need to learn how to "properly" account for exchange rates. 35 to 40 pounds for a PC game is way too high. Especially when you can get the same PC games via online shops like game.co.uk for 25 pound. Or in the case of Sins of a Solar Empire Trinity, 17.95 GBP and you got the disc with it. So yes. Steams sales are better than retail sales.

Um why... Steam is usually more expensive for new titles. You're better off with a retail version over steam on new releases. Also if you already have trinity or diplomacy, then you get the $10 preorder discount through stardock and still get a steam activation key when the game releases. Lazy or not, money talks. And my money told me to preorder via stardock and save some money in the process. It just makes sense. Oh, and steamworks titles always

Oh for crying out loud... Steam is not that bad. It's a free service. Always has been, always will be. Runs great sales all the time that beat any other platform and even retailers prices out there. Normal purchases are overpriced though. The DRM is minimal comparing appearances to what it actually does. And when compared to other forms of DRM is unobtrusive to the customer. Ubisoft anyone?
