I'd quite like to be able to post articles. The new rich text editor/story loader hangs and then crashes Firefox for Mac 2.0.0.12 every time I try to use it. I haven't the faintest clue why, either. Any suggested fixes or is this something on your end? I've tried purging cookies and saved logons and redoing everything and that didn't fix it. I would use Windows LiveWriter, which seems to be the recommended standard here now, but there isn't one for macs. Otherwise I'm

I like Fox. It's the campest news station on TV. It's just like you're watching a send-up of a ridiculously patriotic news channel, and the way all the presenters ham/angry it up for the cameras is a nice touch. Watching Fox is a great way to cheer up when you're down. Not so good for finding out what's happening, but that's what news.com is for, right?
It's totally jennifer or one of her clones/buddies/aberrant personalities. The spelling, the multiple postings, the casual insults followed by bizarre switches - if it ain't jennifer, it's still a bit of a tool regardless of its gender.
The effects on the US economy are pretty obvious to non-Americans - the Australian dollar is nearing parity with the US dollar for the first time since, well, ever. It's all very impressive until you realise that the Australian dollar has fallen against the Euro at the same time. America may well deserve to be the world's economic superpower, as Draginol has hinted at in the past, but if you look at the cold hard coinage, Europe is the future.
Hang on, hang on, I've just figured what this is all about! Sanchonino is desperately in love with America's sweetheart, Hillary Clinton! This is all just an elaborate allegorical account of your secret shame!
on the smoking and knowing exactly where the Mormons stand on this......sometimes you're willing to overlook stuff when the heart starts beating hard, but this is when you've got to think about your convictions.......the things that seem alluring now most likely wi
Pulling the smooth moves eh, Sancho? I'd be a bit dubious about dating a smoker myself, but I can understand the attraction of a smoking Euro. It's that whole seductive, perfectly accented ever-so-slightly unhygienic thing. Just so long as she doesn't smoke in bed you'll be fine.
I'm surprised they're still talking global warming/cooling in the US. In Australia it's always climate change, which is more accurate in describing the effects anyway. Global warming/cooling fools people into thinking there's only one possible effect of changing climates, which leads to poorly thought out assumptions. It may not be us causing changing weather patterns, but they do seem to be changing in many parts of the world. I don't think scientists are wasting their time looking into
I'm all in favour of outsourcing too. It means better products for lower prices and has done a damn sight more for development than most 'socially aware' measures, even if it's just because its occasional excesses inspire a response.
Well I'm not sure where you're getting 40 years? I see it says 1968 but where does it say 2008? I'm guessing this article is at least a few years old.
My apologies. Upon checking the article you linked it was last updated in 1999, meaning he published 30 articles in about 23 years, if we include those 8 years of top secret work. Still not a very productive man, although perhaps that's because he's a scientist rather than in the social sciences - someone else will have
He's a pretty lazy researcher. 30 publications in 40 years? Most universities in Oz would give you the sack for such a slack work ethic. Two or three a year in reputable journals seems to be the norm. I'd be inclined to think creationism was just the excuse for some lazy research and possibly even poorly argued conclusions.
I've noticed that every time I go to 'My Replies' it claims that I was the last one to post in everything on the list. Which is a bit odd, because I haven't been. Is this a cookie thing or is it on the database end? Also, trying to post a blog seems to crash Firefox 2.0.0.12 for Mac entirely. Have you upped the system requirements (I have a pretty antique iBook G4, so it's not out of the question that it's crashing from the load) or is it more likely that I have a conflict somewhere?
I'd say they are no more or no less capable than the average 'liberal.'
Then we agree. I assumed he was saying that the average person will simply follow the prevailing winds, and that on the good ship JU under Cap'n Drag that just so happens to be conservative. Maybe I misread the subtext here. It wouldn't be the first time.
I think you're understating the amount of hostility towards ethnic Serbs in Kosovo, but perhaps with independence that will die down a lot. Certainly I think we'll either see a short, sharp increase in atrocities against ethnic Serbs (with a corresponding flight from Kosovo) or things will become more peaceful without much fuss. I still expect to see a flgiht from Kosovo by ethnic Serbs though. Which way things go is up to to the Kosovan people. As for the pro-US, anti-Russia thing, I
Good luck Tex! Just remember when it comes to real estate agents - they're easily distracted with shiny things.
Mason, Dharma, Zoo: I'll try and put something together over the next week or so to explain what I mean. The figures I've seen (and will try and find again) have always suggested that the average person 1. rarely reads at all 2. rarely understands the political system in which they live 3. is largely unfamiliar with political, social or cultural theory 4. is largely unfamiliar with scientific theory and medicine, except in areas that directly influence their work. But gi
So the 'average Joe' is a rude, offensive, closed-minded conservative who is incapable of 'intellectual discussion?'
Do you honestly think the average person is capable of open-minded intellectual discussion? So far as I can tell the majority of the population spend their entire lives quite happily without ever knowing the difference between Sartre, Hobbes and Marx. On the conservative front, Brad's hostility and intolerance for anything less than the ul
America, like Israel, doesn't have to do anything to be vilified for it. Those who want to vilify America will just make something up. It doesn't matter one bit whether it actually happened.
Be that as it may, it's very helpful to have a number of examples to point to of where the US has been shown to be worthy of vilification. Most of the smoke may just be hot air, but there's still a few little fires burning there.
I seriously doubt he'll be back. I'm pretty sure he was pissed off at the direction JU was going and was sick of the same-old, same-old, especially on the politics front. My impression of his last posts was that Gid shat him enough to make him leave. There may have been other factors, but regardless I doubt he'll be back.
I don't see how it's any harder to understand than taking pride in the actions of someone else?
I don't understand that either unless you were in/directly responsible in some way in their success. How can you feel proud when you did nothing to make the pride-creating event happen?
Tova: Hopefully that's not the kind of yeast KFC was talking about, but if so maybe it should be kept away from the dough to protect the delicate sensibilities of the sane.
So like, if I sin just a little I'm going to blow up with yeast?
I think being smote with divine fire is the traditional punishment, but maybe yeast infections are God's way of telling you to slow down on the sin front.
You big softy... Having said this, I know if I'd had the opportunity to be there, there might have been the possibilty of a few tears from me too.
It's pretty hard to look at the faces of hundreds of crying people and not get caught up in it, but yeah, my manliness - now an issue for public debate. As long as the ladies still love me no though, no big deal.
First of all, unleavened bread makes me fart like a bugle. I don't know why this is important, but I thought I'd share it anyway.
It's so important that I can immediately see the article must be entirely rewritten. If only I wasn't so Slothful...
Secondly, and more importantly, if there is a God, I like to think he came up with yeast so we could invent beer. In my opinion, bread came after beer, so we'd have something to toast and put our bacon o
If there's any certainty in this world, it's that one always has more relatives. I'd say no to using waterboarding. Considering how effective most police services are bringing a halt to kidnappers, I'd be happy to leave it all up to them.
I found a great little analogy on a fellow JUer's blog today. The poster was, of course, KFC, she who kicks for Christ, a professed occupation on which you can be quite sure I entirely deny judgement. Here it is, beloved reader:
Sin is likened to yeast. Basically what yeast does is corrupt the dough. That's what would happen if sin is left unchecked. It would eventually spread and all would be affected.
This little analogy got me thinking.
Just want to say that maybe I'm a sentimental sap, but I was out front of Parly House and there may have been a few tears. Very emotional moment for many I reckon. I just hope that something productive comes of it.
