Trin~A lot of JU folks love you. And I know you have returned that love~I've seen this in many of your comments to folks. So you are capable of it. There's not a doubt in my mind. And I read your wonderful blog about loving yourself from before. I know what you mean about that aching loneliness that just never seems to go away. No matter how many friends you have, or how many times people say they love you. It is VERY hard to live w/at times. I don't k

Shortly before he died~Kurt sang a very touching song about Jesus on the Unplugged thing he did. The song is included in the Unplugged CD that anybody can buy. He basically knew that most religious people had already condemned him~even before his suicide. But you also sense a great sadness from him too. I think he believed in God~but in his own highly personal way. And I also think that Jesus did/does love Kurt: It was religion that Kurt disliked. It w
Anne~Wow! Powerful words. I think the imagery is amazing. Sorry to hear it's a true story. And I am glad to hear that blogging does help you. I sure know how that goes. And you will always have a lot of cool friends and supporters on JU. So you like Kurt Cobain, huh? Yeah, I think he was/is awesome. You know what I mean? ~MadPoet
Maybe your mind just functions a little bit differently than the average male mind? It doesn't have to be a bad thing. Einstein was totally absent minded a lot of the time! Would go outside with his bedroom slippers on. Forget to put on his socks, etc. Maybe you're just more of a creative thinker than an analytical one? That's kind of how I am too. And Einstein also felt that imagination is more important than great intelligence! I mean, consider the s
Actually, I didn't find this article offensive either. So it did sort of surprise me that somebody else just might. But people WILL surprise you sometimes. Even on JU. And I personally think this is the coolest site I have ever visited! Anyway, I will always be quick to praise Muggaz. Because I think he is a man of genuine bravery and character. How do I know? Especially since I am just a newbie on JU? Because he doesn't chase after popular opinion. He
Hey Dharmagrl~just so you'll know--I DID finally send you an email a little while ago. At yahoo. . I'm gonna crash for a few hours now. So hit me back when you wanna, k? And I wanna know what you think of Janis Joplin? That's one person I don't think I've ever heard you comment on before? I hope everybody has remembered about the time change deal... ~MadPoet </fo
I love the whole Beat Generation writers thing. And Jack is the best. Although I do like some of Ginsberg's early poems. Especially "HOWL". But I guess everybody likes that one, huh? "I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness..." WOW! How come nobody writes like that anymore? Allen was a kind of prophet. And so was Jack. So is that where you get your blog name from? I always wondered about that? Cool...
Gosh Dharmagrl--I guess I should say thank you, huh? . WOW! Well, since we're being so honest here? I think you are EASILY one of the most amazing people I have ever known. I am in awe sometimes of the way you seem to be able to effortlessly express yourself in your clever and compassionate blogs. I am being serious here. You really are an exceptional person. I saw that in you almost from
I think it is a bit too simplistic to say that someone is a "coward" because they deliberately chose to die. Killing yourself is not an easy act. You don't believe it? Then give it a go. I'm not being flippant here. I'm speaking from experience. I've got the scars on both my wrists to prove I seriously THOUGHT about taking my own life (this was when I was only 19 years old--many, many years ago...). And you know what? As much pain as I was in at the ti
I'm really sorry about your loss and pain. But maybe your sister will eventually find a way to get clean, and the two of you will be close again. It is possible. I nearly died like around 6 times from drug and alcohol abuse. And it still took me several years (and several relapses) to give up the booze and pills. But I have had seven wonderful years of sobriety now. So I think there is still some hope. My own older sister died when she was only 31. A
I think he never learned to like himself very much. And that will always puzzle me--because he was so smart and gifted. And really a very cool guy. But the same thing happened to Janis Joplin. All that raw talent! And she had such a sweet soul. But she really didn't like herself. Why? It could be that all those small town folks that treated them like crap (before their celebrity) scarred them for life? I don't think we'll ever really know the truth. Be
I like cats. They are very misunderstood creatures. Like a lot of poets I know. I think the way you went about writing this is very interesting. Very original work! And the title had me fooled--that was a nice touch. Do you dislike cats because they are so independent? People say stubborn, but they really mean independent. I'm curious... ~Madpoet
Glad you are gonna be fine! Very good to hear. I was really worried before. Hope to visit w/you again soon...
Wow!! This is really cool writing! Did you ever read the selected letters of Emily Dickinson? This letter of yours reminds me of some of her letters--totally awesome and surreal! I just loved it. You could actually lift some of the lines from this and create a very surreal poem. Same thing w/Emily's letters. Anyway, I enjoyed this lots and lots! Thanks for sharing...
Anne~I liked your poem so much that I ended up mentioning it in my most recent blog. And I read and greatly enjoyed your blog about the bad hair day! . Very good writing! I tried to send you a long reply, but my ancient computer crashed on me just as I tried to send the message. Sigh. I need to get a new computer, huh? I promise to try and read another one of your blogs really soon--you're
This is very good stuff. I'm glad I was able to read some of your work. I used to live in Chicago. Was actually born and raised there. But now I'm living in the great Pacific Northwest. Anyway, around seven years ago, I was feeling totally overwhelmed by my way of life. I was seriously in debt because of student loans. And having to pay an astronomical amount of money just to rent an apartment on campus. I ended up getting so stressed out by it all, t
This comment is for both of you: I think that you are comparing apples and oranges here. I LIKE Captain Cornbread's blogs because they are so natural and down to earth. In fact, you remind me a lot of Holden Caulfield--a really memorable character created by the great J.D. Salinger. I think you really do underestimate your writing skills. Spelling and grammar errors can always be corrected by an editor. So don't sweat the small stuff. Your blogs are al
I already thought this was a very touching poem. Then I discovered it is a true story. This is the kind of poetry that NEEDS to be written. Thank you for writing it.
I think you should see a doctor ASAP. I know it's scary. And can be very frustrating. But at least this way there is a good chance you can remedy the problem, before it gets any worse. And I really do wish you the very best of luck, and would like to hear more about the results after your first doctor's visit. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you...
