"Quinn and Rose in the Morning", a Pittsburgh-based rightwing talk radio show, played a shameful recording made in the Steeler's locker room in Denver after that game, the AFC Championship. The sound came from a video of the event, which was described by Rose, who found it "sweet and refreshing". As if!
The general rowdiness and joyful laughter of the victorious Steelers was quickly and viciously stifled as Head Coach Bill "The Chin Man" Cowher came in and yelled,
"Okay, over here! Hats off!"
"Hats off!" was echoed through the room by the obviously intimidated players.
They swiftly gathered, with clearly fake willingness, to bend their knees and bow their heads at Cowher's feet.
Enforced quiet quickly descended, as Cowher bowed his head and led the team in a prayer of thanksgiving for the abilities, teamwork and continued health of the players, which had led to their victory.
All this was done, shamefully, horribly, in the Name of "Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ".
The players, clearly unsure of how to react, responded "Amen", and rose, yelling cheerfully. This forced cheerfulness was obviously a visceral response to their feelings of intimidation, and because their torment had been brief.
Troy Polamalu even crossed himself! How sad is that? That he should feel so much fear that he should have to make such a show to avoid trouble with his intolerant, self-righteous coach?
How terrible for the players, to be so bullied into worship by their Christian coach.
Someone call the ACLU! Save these men from such blatant religious imposition.
