which version of WB?

shareware or paid (yes, both should skin it but it may be important.

open WB configure and click system information and copy/paste that here

has it ever worked?

have you tried a re-install of WB?

i dont see a system info button, and no it has never worked. it is shareware, not paid. if i, however, hover my cursor over the little icon in the sytem tray it says.
"WindowsBlinds 4 (4.5 (build 185) - Shareware)"

I'm not sure, but I don't think earlier shareware versions skinned it.

system info didn't show up until 5 i believe.

have you thought of giving 5 a try?

uhh ok installed WB5 and it still does not work

But now you can post the system information.

Also the desktop icons to not change either.

Changing icons is not part of windowBlinds, it's a function of IconPackager.

Are you using the "Classic" startmenu? That can't be skinned. Right click the taskbar > Properties > Start Menu ..... make sure you have "Start Menu" selected, and not the "Classic".

I am guessing you are using the classic start menu rather than the XP style menu which is why it is not skinning.

well, you guys are right, i am using the classic one, but thats the only one which can be selected.. there is no "Start Menu" selection only the classic one down at the bottom.

right click start or the bar, properties, start menu tab, select start menu (right above classic)

are you saying that's not there?
yes... above classic its blank.. no "start menu" selection is visible.

Sounds like a policy setting.... especially if your system is in a domain.

Start, Run and type GPEDIT.MSC
Double-click User Configuration | Administrative Templates
Click Start menu and Taskbar
Double-click Force classic Start Menu and set it to Not Configured
Re-boot
