WindowsBlinds Not Working

It's not working. Whenever I press "Apply Skin" or "Apply Changes" it doesn't do anything. I unloaded and reloaded it, still nothing. It had worked yesterday, when I got it, but not now when I downloaded a theme and tried it. It also does not show up in the system tray.

I'm using a free trial.

WindowBlinds 5.0 System Information Report:

STATUS : WB+ SRV+ HLP+ UI+ TRAY+

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC.

Your machine does not support per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.

This is because :

Your computer is currently in 16 or 24 bit colour mode and WindowBlinds needs to be in 32 bit colour mode to use per pixel borders.  Please adjust the colour depth of your display to 32 bit colour.  If this is not an option, then you may want to see if you can obtain new drivers for your graphics hardware.

Your computer graphics hardware does not support acceleration of per pixel alpha.  WindowBlinds requires this for per pixel alphablended borders as without it performance would be poor.  Please see if you can obtain new drivers for your graphics hardware.  Recent ATI & NVIDIA boards should support this feature.  Onboard graphics tend not to.

You have one monitor in total.

(Default Monitor) 1 is attached to NeoMagic MagicGraph256ZX driver

Any help would be appreciated.

Just a quick thought Vincent, did you re-boot after the install?

Did you adjust this setting to 32 bit? (Display Properties > Settings tab > select "Highest (32 bit)" in the Color Quality drop-down list > Apply > "Yes" to change settings).

I did reboot after the install.

My computer is rather old, it doesn't have 32 bit. Its highest is 24, which I'm using.

I am going to bet this is the issue, and that you will need to acquire a driver that enables some sort of 32 bit support.

Not sure why the system tray icon is missing, but I do know that if WB5 thinks you are in "Safe Mode" - then it won't work. Whether this is what the current 24 bit is telling it or not, I'm not sure.

Looking on the manufacturers web site (of either the machine, or the graphics adapter) would be the next logical step in finding a driver that will add the necessary support.
