okay i downloaded

Gridscape DX and i dont know how to get it to work on my desktop

You can force the dxtheme file to open with DesktopX by right clicking on the file and selecting "Open With" > and chosing DX. If it's not there, select the "Choose Program" option. (WindowsXP)

Omg what file do i need to force to open when i open it i get 4 or 5 text files at the top and then i get like a hundred pictures

YESSSSS I GOT IT TO WORK When I opened it I just decided to save it to desktop and save it as a .dxtheme I guess I did not think everything out

 I dont think you are reading ANYTHING anyone is posting..

 

 

 1. is DX installed?

 2. if so, can you RUN DX and see the icon in the taskbar?

 3. if so, then all you need to do is RIGHT CLICK the Taskbar icon, click "LOAD DESKTOP"

    point it to the file .dxtheme and open it, and it will load.

 

if ANY of the above steps do not work, then you need to follow (AT LEAST ONE) of the links above to LOAD DX.

 

You do not need to OPEN the DXTHEME file EVER its a file that DX uses, not EXPLORER, or some other program.

 

As all the good people here are tying to point out, DX handles these files just fine, so do the above and it doesnt work, then your not running DX.

That sounds like the contents of the theme file to me.

If this is a folder containing those text files and pictures, you will need to rename that file by doing the following:

1 - Open My Computer > Tools menu > View tab > deselect the "Hide extensions for known file types" > click Apply.

2 - Go back to the folder containing the text files and folders > right-click the folder > select "Rename" > type (or paste) the following: GridscapeDX.dxtheme > click once in an unoccupied space to deselect the name.

3 - Place this file in "C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\DesktopX\Themes" folder.

4 - Start DesktopX > select "Load Desktop" > pick the GridspaceDX item in the list > Apply

That should do it if all is set correctly.

Alternatively, you can re-download the theme, and make sure you do not end up with "GridscapeDX.dxtheme.zip". If so, just remove the ".zip" at the end of the file name, and double-click or place in the folder indicated in #3 above.

Double-clicking will automatically begin applying the desktop theme.

Unless I missed it somewhere in the thread, unless Boxxi updated the theme when DX 3 come out, the them probaly uses a different extention title.

2003? I don't know what version of DX was out then.

thank you for all of your guyses help hahaha hey is there a way to make your own transparent start bar or bar where your like running programs can go like the blue part of the start bar the middle were all of your applications are

as for the start bar - you can always create your own WB in SkinStudio, if DesktopX isn't what you're looking for
