Ball Hog... I Mean, Kobe Bryant Scores 81!

Selfishness and ball hogging? I love this game!

Q: How did I know Kobe was innocent in his rape charge?
A: He's never made a pass in his life.

To prove that I was right all along, Kobe Bryant stunned the basketball world last night in an 81-point romp against the Toronto Raptors. His Lakers won the game and embarrassed the Raptors 122-104. It was a hideous, atrocious display of team sports. Team sports, schmeem sports, as far as Kobe Bryant is concerned. His selfishness and showboating is doing nothing for his team, except drag it down.

What was truly stunning was Kobe's complete indifference towards his teammates. Oh, wait, he has teammates? I mean, does Kobe think he's Mike Ditka? ("Okay, okay... Ditka versus da Packers? Ditka 27, Packers 21, in overtime...")

From Yahoo! News:
Kobe Bryant poured in 81 points to record the second-highest individual scoring performance in NBA history, leading the
Los Angeles Lakers to a 122-104 win over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday.

Only Wilt Chamberlain, who hit 100 points for the Philadelphia 76ers against the New York Knicks in 1962, has scored more.

Bryant's 81 points demolished his previous career high of 62.

As Bryant closed in on 80 points during the fourth quarter, the crowd at the Staples Center jumped to their feet, erupting in applause with every basket.

Bryant did most of his damage in the second half, hitting 55 points and out-scoring the entire Raptors team's 41.

My gosh, Kobe outscored the entire Raptors team by fourteen points in the second half. So much for Phil Jackson's Zen coaching, moderation in everything. Apparently when Kobe's unstoppable, not even his own team gets in his way.

In retaliation, I think the entire rest of the team should refuse to suit up in the next game, just to make a point. Kobe thinks he can do it all by himself?! Let's see how far the Mighty Kobe gets without anyone else on the court.

(Okay, Kobe versus da Bulls? Bulls 185, Kobe 4.)

And those were the guys we'd chant against in Phoenix: "BEAT LA! BEAT LA! BEAT LA!"

That was about all you could do, cause you were just their whipping boy!

(as were the hated Celtics).

Oh yes, Phoenix was LA's bitch for many many years. The Connie Hawkins / Walter Davis / Tom Chambers years.

basketball fans are too addicted to statistics, he got this average points, he got this blah to blah ratio. No wonder people who are huge fans of these games never like football.. where there's only a few goals in a 90 minute game. ROFLMAO

Somebody resurrected this thread! Wow! Go figure, thank you Ikra.

Football is fun to watch, but it's nowhere nearly as fast-paced and uptempo as basketball. Smaller field, more points, more action! Good times.

I have really been enjoying the NCAA March Madness this year. Too bad my Longhorns got eliminated. I had them to go to the championship against UConn. Bad bracket.
