New Object Desktop program coming

And new WinCustomize section..

Just a head's up, Stardock will soon be putting into beta a new Object Desktop program called SoundPackager (or some name that isn't already trademarked <g>).

It will do for system sounds what IconPackager did for icons.  It will add a host of new sounds for all kinds of events on the system that will help spruce up your environment and give you greater control over it.  We will have a WinCustomize section for users to submit their sound packages as well.

Good stuff Brad. I was wondering when you folks were going to make an app to handle sounds. Just a question, will it have a specific sound for resuming Windows from Hibernate/Stand By? That would be really cool if it did.

That is nice and all but I still hope there is some time left for fixing existent apps like IconX handling Apogees 256pixel Icons and RightClick not losing it's menus.

Yea, i hope you concentrate on some of the other apps first. You want you're computer to talk. DL Sayit, and just type in what you want it to say.

That's awesome, this is long overdue. Sounds are so neglected.

I like the sound of that...

Now we're talking! (no pun intended) Looking forward to this.

I like the idea, I'll definitely have to give it a try!

Huh. Okay I suppose. I, too, hope that this doesn't mean that currently neglected programs are going to be even more neglected (how many months now have we been told we were going to be seeing a new version of ObjectBar and WindowFX?).

Excellent idea - I'll love to try it out

I have been looking for something that does that for a few weeks.

Now all you need to the new Windowfx and to get object bar to work properly and it will be sweet.

BlueDev - Stardock isn't a single dev.  We have a group of deveopment teams.  ObjectBar/ObjectDock/CC/KLP/RightClick are a single team.

There's been a lot of work in those areas, we just havne't released public updates recently.  I think sometimes people get used to our software development working in hypertime.

Awesome! I've been waiting for something like this. Surprised you haven't done anything similar sooner.

I'm going to go camp SDCentral now.

Dear Brad, Sounds certainly fit the "brief" of customizing the Windows environment. As one who has had two recent full Windows installs due to a WB5 and Icon Packager imcompatability which was beyond any system restore my current thoughts are I'd rather be looking at a silent stable Desktop than watching it crash whilst listening to an Aardvark

Always wished there was app to control things better. I know some have and do exist, but nothing with Stardocks level of commitment and design.

I'm still using the default sounds, so that will be useful...

I don't even know the feature set that's been worked on but i've wanted this forever.

I'd love to see randomized sounds for certain things....so if you minimize 4 windows in a row they each execute a different sound from the "minimize group" of sounds.

Also widget compatibility, ie..."announce the current time", "say the temp in F", "Fatal Stop in abc.exe", etc etc. *grin*

FANTASTIC NEWS. I've been hoping fot this for ages now, a proggy that'll apply sounds as a package, rather than individually via the Windows control panel, etc.

Awesome news, brad...Stardock ROCKS!!!!!!!
