GalCiv Retro!

Here's what GalCiv 1.0 on OS/2 looked like:

I was thinking we should go back to that look. Much better...

Lol takes me back. I just found my original 5 disc set of GalacticCivilizations. Now all I have to find is my OS/2 cd and I should be all set to install it :)

As I recall, the graphics for GC/OS2 2.0 were much better. True?

I still have GC OS/2 installed on one of my computers and I was playing the game every weekend up until the first GC Windows BETA was released on the Drengin net.

OS/2 was easy 5 years ahead of its time if it was not for marketing blunders by IBM we may have been playing GC for OS/2 VER 5.0 today.

Brad,
you could always just compile the old C code for windows! Probably need some changes though,

Paul.

A LOT of changes would be needed.

I somehow suspect that the old C code for OS2 would not compile on windows. Also, having seen all the work IBM did to externalize almost everything it could, including the kitchen sink, and how MS tries to keep so much of the interface hidden, I would guess that there is no way that you could get the same old GC/OS2 version to compile for windows, even with a ton of work.
