FlyakiteOSX 3 finally released

FlyakiteOSX is a transformation pack. It will transform the look of an ordinary WinXP+ system to resemble the look of Mac OS X. The installer automates the process of replacing ystem files, applying registry tweaks, skins, and extras such as cursors, sounds, visual styles, etc. In case you are not happy with the results of FlyakiteOSX, everything is completely removable. Just run the unintaller from the Star Menu or from the Add/Remove Programs. I have been using it since the first version without any problems.

Looks pretty cool. So, installing this and then uninstalling it, should you want to, will have no ill effects and everything would be back to normal?
Absolutely, I have used all versions, just make sure you read the 'read me' file and only install the features you like best or know about like log on, boot screen, system files, icons, skins but then again everything is reversible...

Sounds good Diafragma...thanks for sharing!

do you need to uninstall any WB or IP or bootskin, etc.? or does it just write over them or something?
If you already have WB installed it will just apply the skin, it wont affect your Icon packager either because all it will do is replace teh orginal XP icons.... Anything you do you will be able to reverse so dont be afraid of trying and if something doesn't seem right just unintall the part that you are not happy with....

Make sure you read the 'read me' file so you know all the goodies you are getting and can choose the ones you need....

Think Apple will shut it down, like Microsoft got rid of Kol's VistaXP?
ok. so i installed this thing and discovered it looks like crap IMO (compared to Kol's tiger 2 theme, or anything else. the close, etc buttons are on the right. the skin looks pre historic, and, with the way everything looked (the website, the installer) i thought maybe they'd have a nice set of things, but NO.

o well

that's just me

to good to be true! an interesting find.

this is is one of the best suites by far. wow. Thanks diafragma.

Lets not judge it from one of the skins that it comes with, please look at the capabilities that could not be done before. If you are into customizing this transformation pack does more than any others and all at one time and without messing up your system.

Can the WB it comes with be changed once the pack is installed?

Absolutely

I installed the program, I think it looks great and it's quite functional, but in the end I decided to switch back to my old setup. I used the uninstall option from the menu, and I left the search index program installed. When I restarted, everything was back to normal except for a number of system icons, mostly in the control panel. How do I get those back to normal?

On further investigation, it appears that the OSX icons that were included in the program have somehow taken over as the Windows Default icons...meaning I can't restore the XP default, because it's no longer the default. When I log off I still get the OSX logoff screen (and logon screen) when it should be the default Windows logon/logoff. I am running out of options to try and fix this...

Sounds like you havent unintall them yet, make sure when you run the unintaller you select/check all the options you orginally selected to download if some Mac icons are still left behind just run rebuild icon cache and that should bring the xp icons back....

See, that's the wierd thing -- I installed everything to begin with, and when I uninstalled, I checked for everything to be uninstalled. It uninstalled the software, most of the regular icons, and almost everything else. What it left behind was a Mac style logon, some of the system icons (like the display icon in the control panel -- there are a number of the icons in there that are like that).
Here's a screenshot of what I mean

The icons all look great (admittedly better than the default windows ones by far), but I can't switch back and forth. If I go to where the default windows icons should be in the system32 folder, I find these type of icons instead. All the other icons are Apogee. That's pretty much all as far as I can tell. I even tried reinstalling the program, then uninstalling all of the components again, but it was the same story.

I absolutely love the look, but I want to be able to back to the way I had, without having to do anything too drastic.

Try running the rebuild icon cache option if you dont know where to find it in Windows, Icon Packager also has the rebuild cache button make sure you are running the default windows theme which is usually the first theme. If that doesn't work try installing the logon and the icon files only and then unintall over again. Feel free to email me if you have more issues. >>>

It was about time I cleaned my computer out, so I went ahead and did a fresh install of Windows (nothing like the smell of a cleaned out computer). I may give the program another shot, it looks great. I don't think I had absolutely everthing set back to defauld Windows...that could have been the problem, but it's all sorted out now on this end.

Thanks for the help!

I had a chance to check this out. Had a few problems. It seems to have messed up Windows Movie Maker. When I run this app now (not hat I ever use it) it gives me a "movie effects file missing" error. This may or may not have been the issue prior to install, not sure because I never run it. After exploring it a little I decided to unistall, after which I could not use any WindowBlinds theme. Applying a new skin ended me with a classic windows skin with the colors of the theme I tried to apply. A system restore took care of that. The spotlight style search never returned any results, and I did configure the firewall to allow. Outside of those few little things the install, ease of use and unistall options were simple amazing. It is quite obvious the authors worked really hard to put this together. I have never seen a theme do the things this one does, and so well. Oh yeah, it would not allow me to switch the theme. I was stuck with the default OSX white/blue. If it wasn't for that, this would have stayed on my machine. I did keep the iTunes package.

I just checked out Movie Maker, and it's fine now. Must be something in the package

A new update will be released in a week...

Gr@ff!X, the reason why you were stuck with the default OSX white/blue is because it is a visual style, so in order to switch back to WB you need to first apply the default windows skin and from there apply a WB skin. That is how visual styles work and always have. Regarding the Windows Movie Maker, I have never used that program before but when looking for it at my all programs menu I couldn't locate and .exe to run it so you may have a point there.
