WinCustomize goes to CES

What do you want to know?

International CESTomorrow I head out to CES.  I'm going not as a software developer but rather on behalf of WinCustomize.com.  In other words, as a member of the press (complete with press badge).

While there, we'll be meeting with Microsoft to hear about what they plan to do with Windows Vista in upcoming builds.  I also plan to cover a host of hardware and consumer electronics of various kinds.

But to add some spice -- tell me what you would like me to check out and I'll do my best to go and look at it and write it up here!

Can you check out the liquid-cooled Xbox 360? Attempt to take pictures as well. Thanks.

The ability for Vista to do Optimization in the background without a need to download that specific software from another company; (e.g., Diskeeper 10 which seems to keep our Optims at 100%). Tango Yankee, and have a safe trip returning in whole...not parts.

It's way out of left field, Brad...but I'd love to know if I'll still be able to get Litestep working under Vista....[probably no chance]....

If you could.. will it be possible to upgrade to Vista from X64-bit Pro? i heard several "guesses" based on nonsense.

I am curious about OpenGL game performance, since OGL is handled through DirectX in Vista
Also, gimme beta 2!

But, I love what I see so far

If you get a chance to look into the progress on portable e-readers, that would be great.

Brad,

If the information is available:

1 - Realistic chipset requirements for Vista.

2 - MS definition of "Modern CPU".

3 - What are the closest competitors to "iPOD" portable audio devices.

4 - Top 5 LCD panel monitors (19" or larger, that support 1200 x 1600 pixel native resolution)

5 - If Wacom is there, what are the plans for the future in tablet input devices.

Have fun....

I'm interested on what new features WMP 11 has(especially if it supports CD-Text natively) and when will there be a public beta?

in addition to questions in the other thread, i have one super request from the Vista dev team. ADD A SHORT CUT KEY TO MINIMIZE A WINDOW! Winkey+down or something simple. Its small but it would make me really happy.

Maybe winkey+up can restore then maximize

When will the bug-free version be released?

I'm curious about the "App-name has encountered a problem and needs to close." dialog. Is it still the same? Has there at least been an option added to re-start the program/application? I'd love to see the option to get more specifics on what that problem actually is as related to local configuration.

grrrrrrr i swear if they make it that WinXP 64-bit Pro is not something to upgrade from for Vista i will buy myself a Mac.

With the window selected press Alt+Spacebar and then the 'n' key.
Granted, the winkey+down would be a LOT easier.

Please forgive me if you're already aware of this, but you can do that right now with Keyboard Launchpad. In fact, my computer at work is set up to minimize using Ctrl + down arrow. This way when customers walk up to my desk I can minimize without a lot of fuss.

If you have Object Desktop then you already have Keyboard Launchpad.

This is probably a given, but, you have to check out what Google has got in the works. That's definitely going to be the thing to watch.

Also any completely new/innovative stuff, if it's there, and you have time..

Have fun, you lucky devil!
