AlienGuise to WB

Since AlienGuise uses a form of WindowBlinds to apply it's themes, is there any way possible to create a .wba theme from a .suite file? I have extracted the contents of the AlienGuise setup program, but don't know where to go from there.

The .wba will be in the .suite file.

Thanks for the reply Cavan. I see all the .suite files, but how do I use them? Do I need to import them into SkinStudio? WB asks for the .uis file, which there is only one, but since I haven't been using the software for very long, it's a shot in the dark for me. Any help would be appreciated!

once inside the .suite, there's no .wba in there?

I don't even know how to open the .suite file... or what program to use. I am trying to use the Alien skins with WB5, not the installer program that came with them.

i think a .suite is a specialized fancy name for .zip - try changing the extension

when i first downloaded an Alienware suite, it told me I had theme manager and asked if i wanted to use that, i said yes.

Well, my thoughts are:

rename the .suite to .zip and try that?

If you already had WB5 installed, and you launched the AlienGuise setup...do you now have two theme managers, or was it AG that asked if you wanted to use the WB theme manager?

Well, I renamed the .suite files to .zip, and SkinStudio has imported them. Thanks for the help! It worked.

it AG that asked if you wanted to use the WB theme manager?

yes

Unfortunately, the only theme that came from all that effort, was the first one. The other .suite files only contained .ini and .bmp files.

If you already had WB5 installed

nope, earlier version of WB...when i update, i have it autoarchive but not touch the skins

I installed the AG software, it didn't ask me if I wanted to use WB, and when I uninstalled it, it wiped out my icons, my cursors...and I had to recover my theme by reapplying it!

Oh well, you guys helped me import the theme into SkinStudio, and I extracted the icons to IconPackager. That's working ok.

when you installed the AG, did you have Theme Manager installed?

@Bichur,

No, I didn't have TM installed. I also went back and cleaned up the .wba file I first created since I choose to first zip all for distribution, instead of a stand alone. Went from 64mb to 167kb! I just love bein a noob at some things.
