i know why nobody likes me!!!

i figured it out.

see thread "nobody likes me" if you don't know what i'm talking about.

the problem is that i put some relationship status for all race at the begining of the game so it does two things.

1 - it shows where the territory for each race is on the mini map so i can look at it in the begining to see if want that map or not.

2 - the u p meetings are full.

the problem i am having is that every race declares war on me within the first 30-40 turns. and when one does it, they all join in. and i mean like within the same turn. i was trying to build up peaceful relations with all of the races, but they don't take me seriously because i don't even have weapons researched. neither do they, but they still see me as weak and declare war.

so be careful if you do what i do with the relation status at the begining of the game. unless you want to fight every race at once in the begining of the game.

all this means that the u p meetings should be full from the begining of the game.

"all this means that the u p meetings should be full from the begining of the game."

Have to disagree. The races should not be represented until they are discovered. The way it is now.

"it shows where the territory for each race is on the mini map"

Hmm. I can see there territory on the mini map with all races set to unknown.

Well.. at the begginning of the game if you do something like adjust their relations to you to 'close' don't matter if they're clear across the universe on the other side far off behind several other alien races (ie definitely out of your starting range) you can contact them. Also when it is time for UP those races are in it along with you.

that's what i said isn't it??? i did realize after this post that they show up on the mini map anyway.

my point is that i am forcing the u p meetings to be full, but they all just declare war. there is no parrellel growth in this game unless you are as powerful. they will declare war even if they don't have anything to fight with.

The A.I is to keen to declare war with everybody, even when they have no military to fight one, doh. The relation factors need tweaking, things like trade should form stronger bonds, and the "i'm to busy elsewhere" factor need to be a lot more positive with relations.Drengin and Yors should be the aggresive races starting most of the wars.In the beta all the races are war mad.

This also comes back to the broken alliance system in the game making peace in the galaxy impossible..I hope this is adressed in the release version. Not every player likes war, some like to build.

Yes!

"i'm to busy elsewhere" factor need to be a lot more positive with relations.

Yes!

I find that every body hates me until I get a few good yellow techs. I trade those for the AI Cruisers and Frigates and my military value is through the roof and they are my best friends. Haven't gone higher than normal with that tactic though.

if you read my post, you would know that it was too early in the game to have established trade. even after i establish 5 trade routes with a neutral civilization, my relationship status still drops.

Does this mean the AI makes an absolute estimation of your power? Becouse as I understand you were relatively equal to others but weak in the absolute terms...
