And it's now started...

Well finally I've started what I've wanted to do for quite a while and that is... create a Window Blinds skin. Now I've never skinned a single thing in my life. I'm more oriented towards web design and such, but never created a skin to freshen up the look of an OS much less one for a media player like Winamp. Oh I've thought about doing it plenty of times, even when I was a registered user during the early years of WindowBlinds, like the 1.x days. I let my registration lapse and haven't run it till recently when WindowBlinds 5 was released. I checked out the features and was like hmmm.. this looks interesting. So I ordered it and am very happy I did. It's alot less of a resource hog as it used to be when I ran it back in the day. Well anyways I'm very pleased with the way it's running and handling everything, very responsive and the per pixel windows are very nice. Brad and company did an awesome job on this release! Kudos!!!

Well back on topic, I'm working on my first WB5 skin which I'm titling ph/OS (well you should know where that's coming from). I've wanted to create a ph/OS skin for a long time and now I've finally started. I've started a concept of it on a canvas of 1024x768 to get a feel for the way it will look on Windows when it's done. So far I'm pleased with the concept. I've posted the concept (which isn't up to date) on my Wincustomize site (Link). Everything is in it's familiar location as far as the widgets along the titlebar and start menu. Since most people are accustomed to the min/max/close buttons being on the right hand side of the titlebar, I'm keeping them there. It's going to have subtle colors with a custom background and possibly a custom logon to go with it. We'll see..

Well I think I'm done with my first blog entry and I'll get back to working on ph/OS and see where it goes..

Take care!

Thanks alot.. yeah I'm really pleased so far with the concept. I very much prefer to the simplistic and clean skins.

Thanks again for the compliments!

I like it, too. It has an Essorant look to it and that's about as high a compliment as I can pay to a WB skin.

Man now if that isn't some pressure, what is? Thanks Black Cat for the compliment, Essorant is one of the greats when it comes to skinning.

I just hope that I can uphold that compliment when the skin is finished and released.

This is looking VERY well. Just take your time with it and I'm sure it will be as fantastic looking as the screenshot.
