During the NFL season, there are 3 teams that I root for. One, of course, is my favorite team, the New York Giants. The others are (in no particular order) - whoever is playing Dallas and whoever is playing Washington.
So, since Dallas is playing Washington (in Washington), it's brought up a little conundrum. Who should I root for? Of course, I go through this at least twice a season (and once already this season.) Oh, the horrors!!! Is it possible for BOTH teams to lose? In the same game? Although - the last time Dallas played Washington (in Dallas, even) - they both tried really hard to lose and one team failed at that ....
Well, it seems that I know who to root for this time. Dallas needs to be beaten, hard. See, if the Giants can manage to pull off a win against KC this afternoon, and Washington gets their collective heads out of their collective nether regions, then the worst the Cowboys can pull is a tie for the NFC East. And that still locks the Giants in for the win, 'cause all of the tiebreakers go in the Giants' favor (division record is 4-1, will be 5-1 after they trounce the 'Skins on Christmas eve), and the Giants have won both meetings between the teams this season.
So, as much as it pains me to say it, "Hail to the Redskins!!!!!"
*falls to the floor twitching from mental anguish*
