what's wrong with PETA? tho i believe humans are more important and smarter than animals, what's wrong with the ethical treatment of them? |
Good Question. While I beleive that the ethical treatment of animals is a noble purpose as well, I am not a vegetarian. And I dont bestow the same rights that man has upon animals. Animals are to be used, ethical, by man for his benefit.
That being said, the problem with PETA is in their tactics and Hypocrisy. While most SPCAs routinely only euthanize about 15-25% of the strays brought to them, PETA has been euthanizing at a rate of almost 85% (2002). That is hypocrisy.
And then there is their tactics. When they compare the selling of slaves to selling of cattle, that is not only demeaning and cruel to Blacks, it is just down right wrong. And when they tell children that their mom and dad are murderers and child abusers for allowing the children to eat hamburgers, that is also wrong and damaging to a child that is being taught to respect their elders.
Basically, while their purpose may have been noble at one time, they have become a psychological terrorist group these days, and I for one cannot stomach them or their tactics.
