Have you trade route with them? Are their planets in you influence zone? Are you giving them tech? are they busy fighting each other? What is their alignement compared to yours?

BTW, you should read this thread https://www.galciv2.com/Forums.aspx?ForumID=164 if you haven't done it already.

YOU UGLY AND YOR BREFF STANK!!!!!!!

or maybe it's an alignment issue.
what i noticed is some choices are more evil than others. i ended up with a slightly evil alignment after making an equal number of good and evil choices, or maybe i just can't count.

ok, most of this is before i even researched xeno ethics, so i didn't have an alignment yet. i didn't research trade yet either. i got tired of evryone always attacking me, so i used the money cheat. it takes about 5000bc every 10 turns or they start getting angry. the only way i have been able to keep them at bay is by throwing rediculous money at them or by haveing a superior military.

i found out that trade actually matters when the arcean were that last ones to declare war and they only did it because their trading partner declared war on me. even after i get an alignment, it doesn't seem to matter much. i have about half of the galaxy and the altarians have been fighting with me since the begining.

also, i used the money cheat and i have fed a total of around 500 000 bc to the terrans and they still lose ground and still don't like me in just 10 turns. if someone gave me a bunch of money, i wouldn't hate them in a few minutes.
