Accessing the A.I empires performance in the game.

After playing GC2 for 10 decent games for about 4-5 hours each, with all 10 empires on large map with scattered galaxy type.I seem to find some empires doing well all the time and some not so well each time.I would like to take notes with other people to see if they have the same view, or if it's just coincidence in my test games.

My rating for each Empire apart from Human, who i have been playing each game.

1.Altarian=The weakest A.I script in the game. They suck period. The Altarians are always weak, always last and rarely make it past the early stages.Nice guys always come last.Weak/weak everygame

2.Drengin= Very disappointing in my test games. They start ok but then just fall by the wayside each game. The Drengin need looking at,considering they are the major bad guys.I want them to be the strongest empire in the game.Weak/average in all my games.

3.Torian= Very good script.Consistent each game. They wipe the Drengin out.Average/strong each game.

4.Thalan=Poor most of the time. They verge around weak most games but seem to stick around for some reason, maybe luck.Weak

5.Arcean=These guys always do well, second best script in the game.Strong/average in most games.

6.Yor= They seem to be an average civ, without ever being a true threat.Average/average most games.

7. Korx= Get mixed results with this civ, sometimes they verge on strong, most of the time they are average.A few games with them being poor.Average/mixed.

8. Iconian= These guys are always the biggest threat in my games. The best script or race bonuses in the game in my view.Strong/strong.

9. Drath= The are like the Thalan in my games, they always verge on weak but seem to stay around.Weak

In most of my games the Arcean,Torian and Iconians do very well. While the altarians are always being terrible. This just could be coincidence in my games, other folk might have a different story. This is just what i'm finding in my tests. What do you guys think.

Well... Actually..... I thought so to but in my last game I had them on my borders with 4 others on the far side of the map so I decided not to build up a military force right away so hardly no defence... After a few turns they declared war on me and came with some rather good ships my way (not to mention transports..).. So I had to design an build some ships ASAP and even had to research better point defences..

/edit...

Or perhaps I'm mistaken and it was the Torians who did that..... Looks like I've deleted that save game...
Damn, was a very nice strugle toget out of.

I'm talking about A.I performance between themselves, not vs poor human players.

Well, funny thing was that I don't remember any other AI were at war with me or each other, just the altarian or torian who wanted to wipe me out...

I've been playing on smaller maps with only a couple of opponents, but I did try one game with a Medium map and 6 opponents. The overall difficulty level was set to Normal, and I think the Altarian's intelligence was normal, where some of the others were sub-normal. After about an hour of play, the Drengin, Korx, Torians, and Yor had all surrendered to the Altarians, they had 4 times my population, were doing twice the research, and had 3 times the military. I allied with them to end the game

A.I performance between themselves

Each major civ has its own AI. Brad (Frogboy) programs the opponent AIs. On GC1 he concentrated on one or two at first, then went on to the others. At this point in the Beta I would expect to see a big discrepancy between the capabilities of the AIs. By the time the game goes gold they should be all up to snuff. That was what we saw beta testing GC1.
