Should I update my version of DirectX

I currently have update my video driver and was wondering if I should update DirectX? I am running DirectX 4.09.00.0904. Version 9.0 is availible, I using a Dell Latitude D600, will it help or mess my system up?

It looks like you are using the pre-requisite level of DirectX now. Look in the debug.err file in your galciv2 folder. You should see a line near the top that reads "DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)" within the top 5-10 lines.
