Desktop color changed automatically by WB5 upon each startup and hibernation recovery.

Still no satisfactory answer...

Realizing that there have posts on this topic already, I am submitting my own. I still have not seen any helpful responses so for the sake of others who have this problem as well I will talk about my experiences also.

I am experiencing WB5 changing the color of my desktop every time my screen shuts down on power save mode, hibernation, or full start-up. It's begining to drive me a little crazy. I have not learned yet how to take care of this on my own via Skinstudio - although I would like to. I have toggled every option I can find within the Window Blinds preferences screen; specifically the Basic Settings/ "Apply any wallpaper supplied" box to no avail. Are there any suggestions out there as to how I can furhter mitigate this problem?

I'm running XP Tablet Edition.
Have several spyware shooters
McAfee
Plenty of resources
And nothing else weird that I might foresee as being an interference to WB

Your help is much appreciated.

Yeah I have this problem also. There was an option in the older version of windowblinds to disable skins from changing the background color. I have not found this option in WB5 and cannot remember what it was called.

Hopefully someone has a solution.

I have not found this option in WB5

I think it's the 'skins color theme' option right above the wallpaper option in basic settings. unchecking it doesn't help. trying to override in properties/appearance tab doesn't work either - it thinks i'm using a share ware when i click it.

The newest beta refresh i believe resolved the shareware issue.

Yes, I've tried all of the suggestions you have offered with no new results. Bizzare... and frustrating. Keep me updated and I'll do the same thanks y'all.

...and by the way, no I do not have AIM installed; or any other AOL product for that matter.

If you want to change the colour in a skin, you will need to use either skinstudio or notepad to edit the skin.

Okay, that's great I understand that would likely have been the case and I am fully willing to attempt messing with skinstudio, however, I'm not yet skilled enough to know what changes what and how. Where might I find that information?

I just upgraded to WB5 this week and I'm also frustrated with the difficulty of changing background colors. I prefer a darker background on my desktop than many skins have but I can't even find a good way to change the background color now. Has anyone considered creating a concise set of directions on how to use the program and how to customize it to your needs? Something that doesn't require programing skills? If the only way to alter things is by using note pad or skin studio your going to lose people who otherwise would love this program. Please please don't let WB5 become a 'geek's only' program.

It's quite amazing, in a negative sense, that this issue was reported in 2005 and I'm still having the same issue in 2009 with the latest WindowBlinds (6.4).

I had to change the desktop color by going to "Change skin colours" > "Edit Colours", select "Show me the skin defined system colours" from the dropdown list, find "Desktop Background" and change the desktop color from there.

Is there still no option in WindowBlinds to override or ignore the skin's Desktop Background color? I couldn't find it. If not, I have to say it's absurd to pay for a product like WindowBlinds and lose control of something as basic as desktop color. I purchased Object Desktop so I'm fortunate to have SkinStudio, but it's still disappointing that lack of this basic option in WindowBlinds forces customers to modify skins for something that was so easy to do BEFORE installing WindowBlinds.
