There are cheats built into the game. I think you have to enable the "Cheats" checkbox in the Options menu, which unlocks a bunch of hotkeys. I think they are like CTRL+A, CTRL+B, etc. I don't remember for sure, but there was a post in these forum quite a while back that listed them all.

There are some "cheats" in the game, but the ones I have used are basically debugging aids.

Haven't tried the cheats in the game, but you can also edit the race files to give you arbitrarily-high bonuses.
