Your Christmas list would be ... (if money were no object)?

Time to see what people would wish for if money was no object and you could have virtually any *thing* or *vacation/trip/holiday travel package* you wanted.

Sorry, but it has to be something real and tangible, not something like "world peace", "peace in Iraq", "our troops home for good" or other wishes like those. As noble as such wishes would be, those are out of bounds for my question.

The question is what material item that you could purchase with an unlimited budget would you want.

A trip to Hawaii? A flight in a rocket into space (if you have the $$, the Russians would be happy to take your request into consideration). Your own private Island? Ownership of some megacorporation? A video game console that is sold out everywhere in the country?

What would you ask for, and why would you want that item over other possible choices.

If you want to take a few seconds, you can also add what you realistically hope for and expect to get so we can see the difference between real and imagination.

I would love to go on a long, exotic vacation around the world. I would start seeing all of the places in the United States that I've never seen yet, NYC, the Grand Canyon, the Everglades. I would love to go to Mexico particularly San Miguel Allende and Tulum and I would buy the most fabulous Mexican folk art to decorate my home with when I came home. Then I would head over to Hawaii, then Australia, India, Japan, Hong Kong, Tailand then the great cities of Europe, Paris, London, Rome oh and Venice I always thought Venice seemed so beautiful and romantic. I hear its dirty but I'm staying with my illusions. The real grand tour. Oh and of course, if money was no object I could amass the most fabulous wardrobe and jewelry collection while I am traveling.

That would be fabulous. Realistically I would love to just go to San Antonio for a long weekend, maybe spend a week at Big Bend or another state park, maybe a week at the beach, Galveston.

Also I would just love to have a flat stomache. I'm not willing to go with cosmetic surgery so maybe a home gym and a trainer. A spa chef to cook all of my delicious, nutritious meals.

Realistically I'm working on it but it's just not coming quick enough for me. Patience is a virtue they say.

Oh and if I could have my own mega corporation to reap mega profits and never have to worry about finances again that would work for me too.

Nintendo DS with Nintendogs

New entertainment center (the furniture, not the electronics)

Treadmill

New cookware

Lots and lots of Yankee Candles

Wireless set up for my laptop

Trip home to Texas for Christmas

Trip to the Big Island

New coffeemaker

Big, sleek fridge with all sorts of functions

A vehicle of my own

Manicure/Pedicure/Massage/Highlights

A sectional sofa

A really nice living room rug

Probably some other stuff that I'm forgetting. But that's a good start.

Oh, what will I get?

Well, I know I'm getting a diamond ring. Maybe a DS with Nintendogs. Probably a book. I'm cool with whatever I get. It's more fun watching the kids open their presents than actually getting anything myself.

HO HO HO...
boy if Santa could come to my house this Christmas I'd ask him for

an easy chair for my living room, now I just watch tv in my room in my bed

a car so I could go to the family reunion every year, get to go visit friends, not have to take the bus grocery shopping

and a scanner for my computer as I'd love to scan things to my sisters!

I hope you do get that one TW. That was a summer purchase for my daughter, and she has enjoyed it quite a bit. She's been slacking off a bit in playing with it lately, but for the first several months she was quite entertained and enthralled with the game. It made me feel good about the purchase, and glad that I didn't waste the money for it.

My own "dream" present would still be a trip into space. Even as I get older, the lustre hasn't worn off. I'd still love a few orbits worth, or a few days up in the ISS.

A more realistic dream present would be a 500 mile race in a Nascar Nextel Cup or Busch series event. I'm getting a bit old for the competition, and would need to build up to it, but man would I love to try. I know I could do the Richard Petty experience, or a trip or two around the Monster Mile, or something similar where you get to drive the car by yourself for a few laps, and if I wasn't such a cheapskate, I might do it. Given the cost though, I think I'll stick with PGR3 when I finally get my Xbox 360 in hand.

Family presents would include another trip to Disney or somewhere similar. A trip to Hawaii might be nice if on an unlimited budget, and Australia or New Zealand might be nice too. Not much interest in other places (Europe and such).

What will I really get? Well, the 360 was supposed to be my birthday and Christmas gift combined. Considering the $$ spent on it, asking for anything else would be greedy.

I want a big freakin engagement ring. lol. HINT HINT, RYAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmmm...If money were no object, I'd build a "complex" for my family on a tropical island somewhere, hire round the clock nursing care for my grandmother, and move us all there in December so we could be together till the last one of us died.

Barring the mental instability that would cause me...that's what I'd do.

Realistically? I'd like airfare to New Zealand to see my friend Robin. I'd also like to visit Europe. A nice cozy house, and a Christmas ski vacation in the Rockies. Not that I can ski or anything, but that's the quintessential Christmas "card" in my head.

Still time to get a few more lists in here, don't be shy. Santa needs to know what you want?

A Rans Stratus recumbent bicycle

A full body massage along with a day at a spa

Oh yeah, and a set of new teeth to replace all the ones that were knocked out/broken in the wreck.

Gonna turn it around a little bit I guess and offer a few holiday wishes for some folks here.

After reading Dharma's recent article, I hope that for the holidays that pain is taken away.

For TW, I hope that the trip to the Big Island is in the future.

For both, I hope that the time separated from loved ones goes quickly, and that the time spent together after passes much more slowly and with lots of love and joy.

For MasonM, I hope for the set of teeth, and wish I could provide a coupon for the day at the spa.

For LW, I would wish for the $$ for the item on her list, or at least wish that things improved at the shelter there, and everywhere in the country. Far too many creatures live in shelters throughout the country, and there are far too few loving homes waiting for them. (On a side note, I also know that there are times when there are loving, yet slightly flawed, homes that are available that just can't pass the muster that is set by some shelters. I would hope that some people are able to resolve differences in those areas and find the best homes for those creatures, but it's not likely something to change soon )

I'd wish for the car for Trudy, and for the trip for Loca also.

I hope most of those wishes do come true for you all, and hope that the $$ to get these gifts somehow find their way into the hands that need/want them.

My Christmas list consists of one thing...a book deal with just enough of an advance to get a reliable internet connection to my house and to take care of my salary for a few months while I put it together.

S'OK, though...I think I'll have it in hand within the next year.

Wow, is it too late?

To be totally selfish: I want a big honkin' flatscreen HDTV. Yeah, wall sized.

To be a good husband: Trip for two to Australia. My wife wants to go on safari before she dies, and I want to accomodate her. As far as I'm concerned, the Outback is as good as Africa, without the civil unrest and the associated danger.

To be a good father: another big trip to Disneyworld. We went for a week back in 2002. Amazing trip, but my kids' memories are wearing off.

Not too late at all. Still plenty of time to make those wishes known to Santa so that hopefully the wishes can be fulfilled.

Now if only someone with a time machine would come back and tell someone here what the winning numbers are for one of the big lottery drawings.

Then with the money I earn from working again:

An electric guitar w/amp
A Bass guitar w/amp
A parachute
Climbing equipment
Surround Sound home entertainment system, with wide screen plasma TV and an assortment of my favorite concert DVDs and movies.
and a bunch of other things to do with my kids with my health back...

oh yeah..

and the last 3 years of my kids' lives that I haven't been as big a part of that I've wanted to be.

I'm really glad to hear that. My youngest (5) is constantly telling me that he's going to buy Nintendogs for me, hehe. First, he just needs a job!

Thank you. That's very sweet. Actually, we're trying to plan a trip to Kauai, Maui, and the Big Island for when Adrian gets back from the upcoming deployment. Something to look forward to for sure.
