WindowBlinds 5 and Panda Internet Security

I have just discovered a problem with WindowBlinds 5 BETA and the Panda 2006 Internet Security Suite.
Windowblinds works fine each time the PC is rebooted before Panda is installed.

When Panda software is installed Windowblinds is no longer able to skin the desktop on startup, I have to unload WindowBlinds and reload in order to get the program to work again.
This is not a one off, it happens everytime I reboot. I suspect Panda is preventing something from loading on start-up for some reason.

What if you just reapply the skin, not unload & reload.

Also is this with the 4.96 release?

I have tried to reapply the skin and get the same result. I have the 'loading' screen of the new skin, but still nothing happens. I have logged a call with Panda as it must be preventing something starting at bootup.

It's version 4.96.003. If I load version 4 that doesn't seem to have the problem. Panda Internet Security doesn't like the new version for some reason.

Same problem here with Panda 2006 and the latest WB 4.96a(b).002

At startup get the win98 classic style.

All is fine if logoff then logon again.

Happens with all skins if restart, checking boxes under trouble shooting makes no difference.

Reapply skins makes no difference, only logoff/on gets wb5 back.

Still an issue with the latest RC build.
Who is at fault though, is this something Panda should fix or Stardock.
Does anyone know why this is happening.

I have a similar problem on my work machine, running XP Pro, although I'm not running Panda. I disabled most everything that I thought could be affecting things, including Sophos Anti-virus. There's junk, like the SafeDisc driver and various other protection schemes, that I don't want to mess with. But this machine is pretty clean, overall.

When I enable WB by selecting a skin, the system metrics (eg. Taskbar size, fonts) change, but no skin. I reboot and still no skin. I logout and login and then the the skin works. I was doing that this morning, but then I tried to fire up Civilization 4 at lunch time and got an error message box with the client area not painted, so I have no idea what it was complaining about. That's the only time I've seen that from Civ4 on any of the four machines I've played it on, so I switched back to Luna, rebooted and Civ4 worked fine. Not enough info to say if that issue was related to WB5.

So, this not skinning problem has existed with the last few betas and RCs and now the final. Before that, I installed one beta and Explorer would crash on start-up. I would get a Windows pop-up that I believe was caused by the CPU's data execute protection (whatever it's called). This is Pentium D 820 (2.8GHz Dual-core). I skipped a few betas, before trying again, when the current problem started.

WB5 works fine on my P4-3.2 at home, except for having to uninstall and install during the beta cycle.

I have exactly the same problem. I'm running WB5 enhanced and also Panda 2006. On startup there is no skinning. The WB icon does not appear in the notification area either until I log out and log back in again.

I've been having the same problems with my installation. I used TuneUp Utilities to see if I could find the cause. Apparently, none of the basic files load on startup. I added an instance of wbload.exe in the startup folder and it's now working right.

Hello!

I've had the same problem as jonathan! panda antivirus internet security 2006 does not allow windowblinds 5 to skin windows XP service pack 2 each time windows is rebooted. With panda 2006, wb 5 have to be unloaded and after loaded to skin windows XP.

After uninstalling panda antivirus 2006, windowblinds is working well!

There is any patch allowing wb 5 to skin windows XP with panda antivirus 2006??

Dear all, I am using Panda Internet security 2006 with Windows XP Home in my computer. I have no problems at all running Stardock and Windoblinds. Check your firewall settings and if need be add it to your settings. It worked fine with me. Despite the above and regardless what actions I take I cannot start P2P programs like DC++ or emule. Like you guys, I have to close the automatic protection first and enter the program, reactivate then and works ok. I tried to get in touch with Panda Technical support, but they seem unable to understand the problem and asked me to call by phone. That I will not do because it is costly. Some help...
