In the diplomacy screen, Select any race with lots of ships, colonies etc. Try to trade all of them and then watch the items hit the bottom of your section and then continue above (where the alien race responds to you) Just something for you to know.
But it brings up something i've been thinking about. If I were that alien and someone asked me for everything I think my relations with that person would go to hell almost instantly. I think asking for to much should have a polarizing effect on the other (and maybe his allies?) Wars have started because of words and ideas, Maybe they should here also.
