I have to Re-register vbscript.dll & jscript.dll after boot + more

Issue # 1:

With windowblinds 5 installed i occasionally have to re-register two dll's in order for windows media player, windows update, and even some web pages to work correctly. These two dll's are vbscript.dll and jscript.dll. It seems I have to do this more after I've booted from shutdown as opposed to just restarting my system.

Issue # 2:

Seems to be conflicting with my installed Norton software. (Systemworks 2005 & Personal Firewall 2005). Most noticably when I try to turn on or off Norton Recycle Bin protection It either crashes upon hitting apply, or I am only able to protect one of my two drives. (Currently my C: drive is being protected, but If I go in and switch it on for my D: drive, c: drive automatically turns off.) This was definitely not an issue prior to purchasing Object Desktop.

Issue # 3

Another issue I am having is that I am unable to override the skin default toolbar icons. I have selected "always use the toolbar icon set selected below" but it has no effect when I apply changes.

I also have iconpackager, desktopx, and component tray installed, all are the latest versions.

How often do you have to re-register your script dlls?

Have you narrowed problem #1 and #2 down to WindowBlinds 5 Beta as being the cause? (ie Does everything function as you would expect with it unloaded)?

As for problem #3, are your toolbars skinned with at least the current WindowBlinds skin? Are there any toolbar skins you are able to override, or does this issue occur with all skins?

Thank you for submitting your bug report.

Issue # 1:

After doing some searching around on the web I found this issue was common with DesktopX and widgets. I have disabled script blocking in my Norton Antivirus settings and it seems to have corrected the problem, as I have not had to re-register the dll's since doing so. I can't say i'm overly comfortable with this solution, but at the moment I see no other choice.

Issue # 2

Not entirely sure at this point. I will try it out and update tonight.

Issue # 3

The toolbars are skinned with it's matching windowblinds theme skin everytime. I have tried overriding with toolbar skins from other "themes" but it always remains the loaded windowblinds theme's toolbar skins. And yes, I have selected the needed override settings under the toolbar skin options.

Thanks,

Antonio

Regarding issue # 2

I unloaded windowblinds and the Norton protected recycle bin worked as it should have. As soon as I reloaded windowblinds and tried to empty my protected files it froze, and currently any windows i minimize are "stuck" on my desktop.

Thanks,

Antonio
