hard crash (oops! i think i hit the wrong button...)

Was playing the new 9/27 version my survey ship had met a minor race, a scout (freebie) had found another minor civilization and had only had contact with the Tor. I went to the diplomacy screen, checked my relationship with the tor and then selected the minor race, the first race showed up but then i hit the right arrow button and totally locked up. The debug file is 3 megs long but here is oart of it with the first few lines before the problem areas,

p.s. if you think this is a bad bug, we just did motion traking for a 130 hour render and it can't find the backward references to original film. grrrr...
