Stupendous Man Stupendous Man

What's your favorite movie quote?

What's your favorite movie quote?

Recently a friend and I were talking about movie quotes and which were our favorite lines.

Two that I love are 1) Said with a thick mexican accent, "Badges? Badges!?! We don't have no stinking badges, and what's more we don't need no stinking badges!" -- The Treasure of the Sierra Madres

And 2) Said while strapped to a table as a laser is slowly aiming a red beam of death towards his crotch:

Bond: "Do you expect me to talk, Goldfinger?"
Goldfinger: "Nooo Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!"
- the movie Goldfinger

from GhostBusters:

Dr Ray Stantz: Everything was fine with our system until the power grid was shut off by dickless here.
Walter Peck: They caused an explosion!
Mayor: Is this true?
Dr. Peter Venkman: Yes it's true.
[pause]
Dr. Peter Venkman: This man has no dick.
Walter Peck: Jeez!
[Charges at Venkman]
Mayor: Break it up! Hey, break this up! Break it up!
Walter Peck: All right, all right, all right!
Dr. Peter Venkman: Well that's what I heard!

Ok, this is more than a quote, it's a scene, but it's priceless.

Sammy Davis Jr to bookie - "We've got a secret weapon. God is our co-pilot!"
Dean Martin to Sammy Davis Jr - "Could I talk with you for a second?"

(they step aside)

Dean Martin to Sammy Davis Jr - "God is our co-pilot?"
Sammy Davis Jr to Dean Martin - "God is our co-pilot!!!"
Dean Martin to Sammy Davis Jr - "You know the Ferrari? Two seats?"
Sammy Davis Jr to Dean Martin - "Yeah, two seats!"
(Dean Martin slaps Sammy Davis Jr across the face and says) "Where's he gonna sit?" (slaps him again) "Where?"

For those of us who have trouble remembering the 60's, age and other reasons, "What we have here is a failure to communicate" is embedded so deep it will never disappear. Nothing captures the essence of a time in our lives like that line. I only wish the line wouldn't flashback everytime I listen to the nonsense still coming out of our capital.

Bill Pullman (President): The only mistake I ever made was to appoint a sniveling little weasel like you Secretary of Defense. However, that is a mistake, I am happy to say, that I don't have to live with. Mr. Nimzicki...you're fired.

That line is given attention in "Civil War" Guns n' roses. It has relevance in that there's nothing civil about war, a point made by the song some 30 years later.

Also Strother Martin, from The Ballad of Cable Hogue

Cable Hogue (Jason Robards) is run over and critically injured by a 'motor car' in the 'old wild west', Martin's character's response...."I see'd one of them before."

Rockhound: You want to compare brainpans? I won the Westinghouse prize when I was 12, big deal. Published at 19, so what. I got a double doctorate from MIT at 22, Chemistry and Geology. I taught at Princton for two and a half years. Why do I do this? Because the money's good, the scenery changes and they let me use explosives, ok?

Rockhound: God, I hate knowing everything.

Rockhound: You know we're sitting on four million pounds of fuel, one nuclear weapon and a thing that has 270,000 moving parts built by the lowest bidder. Makes you feel good, doesn't it?
