Getting WindowBlinds 5 to download and install

I'm using stardock central, and it has windowblinds 4.6 installed and successfully registered. It now pops up and says there is an update titled windowsblinds 5, and would I like to download the update. I click yes, but it just returns to the main interface and does nothing. It has windowBlinds 5 in the product list, but when you click run it just opens up version 4.6?

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

~ Make sure you have a Stardock.net account also and make sure SDCentral and Stardock.net have same email address.

Yeah thats all ok, i mean it downloaded 4.6 ok and installed that no problem. Kind of frustrating when its popping up every five minutes asking if I want to download it.

Dan H and wellsjs: You're not doing anything wrong, don't worry! Could you both either post a screenshot here or attach one in an email to [email protected] and include the URL for this thread?

Thanks!

Well I think I see the problem. It looks like you aren't an Object Desktop user. The betas are only for Object Desktop users, not regular windowblinds users. I find it odd though that you are getting the notice to upgrade. Could be a glitch.

I have purchased multiple products from stardock totalling more than what the Object desktop costs in full over the passed 2 to 3 years. I find it very unfair that someone in my position, or any current user that has gladly shelled out for these programs, isn't permitted to test a beta of a program they are currently registered to. I love the windowblinds program, but I question stardocks business practices. They want me to spend $49.95 and end up with only maybe 2 extra programs. Unfair!!!

Jewels, you have only yourself to blame to be honest. It's not StarDock's fault you wanted to spend more money instead of taking ObjectDesktop (at only $20 than WindowBlinds for a lot more programs).
So it's not their "business practise" it's you not using your head

Also, if you had purchased WB4 before september, you get Object Desktop at a reduced price.

I think this is a bit of a jip to be honest. I'm sure Object Desktop is a very good deal, but its not if you don't want any of the other software it offers. I just want windowblinds so an OD subscription would be a waste of $20.

The other thing I don't understand is I subscribed after sep 1st so I get the finished version of WB5.0 anyway so why not let registered users of WB test the beta. Even those who do not get the finished version upgraded for free would probably more inclined to buy it after using the beta.

Fair enough OD subscribers get the betas, but I think the users of the individual applications should get access to betas relating to their product.

Oh yeah and it would be a good idea to stop it from asking users who can't use the beta if they want to install it! that would probably cut a good portion of emails to the support desk.

When you open Stardock Central...click on "show pre-released versions" and you will see the beta version.
