The funniest story about Chapman I've heard is one that John Cleese has told.

When Monty Python went to Germany, they were invited to tour Dachau. When they got there, it was closed so they couldn't go in. Chapman said, "Tell them we're Jewish." Cleese didn't say if it worked.

If anyone thinks Benny Hill was funnier than Python.....maybe your brain hurts.

Benny Hill is good if you just want to sit and be entertained and not think too much. Monty Python, Fawlty Towers et al make me think. There's the original joke that's blatant, but then underneath that is an implied or insinuated joke that you'll miss if you're not thinking about it....

I think Benny Hill was a one trick pony. Every skit was basically the same. Scantilly clad women. He was like a pubescent schoolboy.
