Jessica Simpson - A caricature of HERSELF?!?

Posed next to her two main competitors, B. Spears and C. Aguilera, I don't think IQ even enters into the equation. God only knows what we would see if they opened their daily lives up to the cameras. I don't like the 'goddess' attitude. Me, I'll take "simple" any day.

Yeah_I don't know who she is but watched an hour of newlyweds on MTV with my 14 year old. Even a 14 year old could see she was shallow and fake, my kid kept saying, " she's a spoiled brat" Outta of the mouths of babes...

Seeing them called "B. Spears and C. Aguilera" made me laugh. Hopefully, we'll get to see their names in that format again when they are tried and executed for high treason and war crimes.

I wonder how she makes it through the day without injuring herself. I think that a lot of it is for show ....but i think the fundamental stupidity is real.

The thing is, she considers herself a role model for younger girls..keeping her virginity until she married, being a 'nice' girl, etc, etc...does this mean she's encouraging them to be dumb blondes as well?

I think people are too hard on Jessica Simpson. True, she isn't the brightest bulb in the haystack, and she's vain, but she isn't a bitch like Madonna or Julia Roberts nor is she a whore like Madonna, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera. The fact that she could laugh at herself only makes me like her more.

I am still not sure who Jessica Simpson is. Even though I saw a biography of her on VH1, I still don't have a clear mental picture of what she looks like.

My wife claims that is Jessica Simpson in the pizza commercial with the Muppets. I think she's pulling my leg. Jessica Simsons is younger than that, isn't she?

No, that's Jessica Simpson. I think she's around the same age as Britney and Christina.

I don't know about Julia Roberts being a bitch, but she's always been ugly and vastly overrated.

Maybe I was wrong to call Julia Roberts a bitch. I've heard many stories about her (and I admit that many of those were from the Enquirer), but I can't seem to find much about her on the net except for praise, so maybe people are just being mean to her. If that's the case, then I retract my statement and apologize for accusing her of such a thing.

Spears and Agilera for me are in a different league because.. well, they are not dumb as dirt. They actually speak intelligently and as *entertainers* they are talented and successful. Or at least they portray this image.

Simpson on the other hand is giving Anna Nicole a run for the money in the So Completely Clueless It's Sad category.

You are seeing very different interviews than I am, and different performances, too, I think.  The apparent difference in intelligence is due to the difference in exposure to the camera.  The other two have handlers that know to keep them out of any unsanitized situation. 

Like I said earlier, if you followed the other two around 24/7 for a few months I doubt seriously you'd see much difference in I.Q.

BakerStreet, I totally agree with you! I personally think they are all bimbos intellectually but they aren't getting paid for their minds. Let's face it, they are all hotties and they are all incredible entertainers. I personally think as far as talent goes, from most talented singer to least, they rate #1 Christina #2 Jessica and #3 Brittney. I think Brittney is most talented at marketing herself. Christina is the skankiest and Jessica comes off as the biggest dumb blonde. I am not a Jessica fan, matter of fact I knew close to nothing about her until the newlyweds show. She is extremely talented ! It is mind boggling how someone who can barely function, whines constantly and always wants to be shopping can go out on a stage and just have this incredible sound come out of them. I am totally jealous!

I define "talented and successful" in the entertainment realm as - providing good entertainment to a great number of people. Both are successes as measured by fanbase,

That said - someone can be a Talented and Successful Tyrant and won't get my respect.

In regards to speaking intelligently - I have heard Christina in interviews and she seems pretty perceptive about the world. There is this intangible quality some people have when you listen to them you get the impression about their relative intelligence. Of course I will grant you it could be due to sheltering by their handlers. In some sense, hiring a handler requires a certain amount of intelligence - which apparently Simpson doesn't have.

Presumably people buy her CDs because they are entertained by her; go to her concerts because they are entertaining.

Super Baby, go to Fametracker.com and search for an old Julia Roberts thread and you'll find loads of criticism, especially when she was dating Danny Moder.

But back on topic, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey depend on each other so much. The marketing revolves around them. They are in every picture together on magazines. Without Newlyweds, they would still be clinging to the C-List and clamoring every little morsel they could get of fame. However, once they break up (if that happens), both of their careers would be over.

The Punk'd episode with Nick Lachey was funny. "Are you one of the Backstreet Boys?" .
