You'd think that with the recent events of Katrina and the damage it caused to those that didn't evacuate that no one would really need their arms twisted, and yet...
I'm watching the 10 o'clock news on the local FOX outlet and sure 'nuff there are the usual round of mentally deficient individuals that are just going on their merry way, ignoring the warnings and demands to get out of the Florida keys and other areas that are in the path of Tropical Storm Rita.
Some people are just too stupid to live. There can be virtually no other explanation. It's proof yet again that the theory of evolution is only partly right -- stupid people just don't evolve. If the theory was really true, there'd be a lot more smart people, and a lot less stupid people in the world. Instead, we have people that have some sort of invulnerability complex who are just certain that there's no way they'll be harmed in a storm that might pass through their area.
I'm sure there were plenty of people that were certain, make that dead certain, that Katrina was not going to hurt them too. Perhaps some of the idiots down in the Florida keys right now might want to call up some of those people and ask them how it feels to lose their possessions, and see some of their friends and relatives lose their lives from a killer storm.
Again, I'm sure this must be George W. Bush's fault somehow... maybe because he still isn't fully funding no child left behind and some of these people are just educationally deficient. (But then again, most of those that aren't leaving were educated a long time ago, when Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, or Ronald Reagan were President -- if not even back to the Carter, Ford and Nixon times.)
