Object Desktop Fall Preview

Part 1

http://www.objectdesktop.com

This fall Object Desktop users are in for a real treat.  WindowBlinds 5 alpha 1 is expected to come out sometime this month.  Moreover, WindowFX 2.5 is nearly complete and it has some cool new features such as taskbar previews and a Ctrl-Tab feature that lets people cycle through their running programs quickly and more visually than the existing Alt-Tab method.  More to come. Stay tuned..

If you don't already have Object Desktop, now's a good time to get it. There's an upgrade path also for people who have one of the stand-alone programs of it.  Object Desktop users get everything already available for it plus all updates and new programs we add for a year after purchase!

"...Ctrl-Tab feature that lets people cycle through their running programs quickly and more visually than the existing Alt-Tab method..."

Pardon? I already use Ctrl-Tab to switch between tabs in Firefox and spreadsheets in Excel. Can the new Ctrl-Tab function in WFX2.5 be re-assigned to replace the existing Alt-Tab? If it can't I don't see me using this feature.

But the translucent panels in Windowblinds: I want that so bad.... I'm looking forward to seeing that on my computer.

probably meant alt-tab.

Man I can't wait for the new WindowsFX What I'd like to see is a GUI to easily create your own transitions, like the direction, amount of fade, shrink, and speed. Like Swish effects. Taskbar previes look wicked too. Bwaha!

Any chance of building an Expose type of feature into the new WindowFX? I've been using Entbloess but haven't been too happy with it.

Yes, but the controls to do that are the same to switch between tabs. Its not hard to understand the concept. I agree with what he said about hoping you can be able to change it to be instead of the default alt + tab

You'll be able to choose between Alt-Tab, Ctrl-Tab, and one other option that we haven't finalized on yet.

I really like the Alt+tab alternative. Hopefully it will work fast enough on my pc, which is fairly up to date though the graphics card is middling. And of course WB5 is really a knockout.

My screenshots were taken on a laptop.  So it should work pretty well on any remotely new desktop PC.

Awesome. I cant wait to try WB5 and update my Vista theme with transparency

Woah... WinFX looks interesting now... now if Microsoft can simply "adopt" that window switching method in Vista... then it'd be an improvement over what they're using now.

I believe Vista does that already.

According to what's seen here...

Nope... They (MS) may have a new fancy Alt-Tab. But I prefer Stardock's implementation of it.

Grr.... makes being broke even worse... ever since my subscription ran out I've been suffering!!!

*mutters about lackeys where I'm supposed to be starting a new job taking 2 weeks so far to get a background check processed..... still hasn't come back and so I still have no upcoming paycheck to count on*...

Can't wait though.

I'm currently using TaskSwitchXP for my Alt+Tab preview. What's nice about that is that you can rightclick on the application preview and perform various actions to it.

WFX 2.5 looks really nice. ...wonder what happend to v2.3 and 2.4...

I'm just wondering how fast that Alt+Tab works? (I got a ATI RADEON 9800 on my desktop)
