ALLY and War PACT

I been thinking about the ALLY status between 2 Alien Civilizations.

Having a "LETS ALLY" button and the ALIEN should still come to you
and ask you if you want to be an ALLY should still be there.

I know this is likely in the works for a future BETA.

The proposal I have is that ALLY should be a contract that can not
be broken. Expect under the following conditions.

An event happens
1)Political over throw, Which I know is probably planed it was in the OS/2 version.
2)Natural Disaster happens you ask for help or the Alien asks you for help. If you
refuse the Alien a Box should appear "Your idea of being an Ally is not our idea of being
and ALLY. Perhaps is the future we will attempt to join Civilizations again."
3)War time the Alien asks for help or you ask for help and get refused have the same thing happen. "Your idea of being an Ally is not our idea of being
and ALLY. Perhaps is the future we will attempt to join Civilizations again."

It would also be neat if an Alien Civilization at War can go to it is ALLY or the other way around
and ask for one of these two new Treaties,

A)ALLY War pact so your two civilization agree to complete merger until the aggressor surrenders or is conquered.

B)"For BAD"AXIS War pact where two EVIL CIV agree to wipe there enemies out and will not rest until every enemy is a slave.

Under these two conditions no Alien civilization would be allowed to break the contract until the war is over and no civilization in pact would be allowed to surrender to an enemy.

I like some of the ally ideas, but the last line of not being able to break the pact is wrong. If two allied civilisations are at war, and one decides to sue for peace it should be allowed. The other ally should then immediately have the option of either

(a) joining the same peace negotiations and agreeing an joint end to the conflict (similar to EU2)

(b) breaking the alliance and continuing the war

(c) making his ally a counter offer to keep fighting.

Allied nations should definitely have feedback and influence in each others future agreements.

I keep think about the OS/2 verision where I am an ALLY so I have all my miltary might combating a comon foe. Then the ALLY surenders. This can not be right.

It should be able to happen (consider wars on earth, often allies will surrender seperately). It should nto happen without warning though. You shpould be aware that your ally is discussing surrendering. They you can try to change it's mind, negotiate a joint surrender (better negotiating position) or let it surrender and continue fighting.

Lots of strategic options here. Consider WW2 where the British scuttled the French fleet when they knew the French were surrendering to the Germans. You could even add resistance fighters and governments in exile.

Is there some way now to have an alliance? Where is the button for this?

DaveO,

The alliance button has already been listed in another thread as MIA.

Japan surrendered before Germany also but like you said It was not without warning.

In times of war it would be cool if an Ally was warned and given choices.

Not true... Germany was beaten long before Japan ever surrendered... that is why the unfortunate use of Atomic weaponry came to pass.
