Constitution Day is September 16, 2005.
It is a Federal Holiday that celebrates the U.S. Constitution.
September 17 (the Constitutional Congress’ final meeting when the Constitution was signed) is the actual anniversary but because it’s a Saturday, it will be celebrated on September 16.
The phrase “separation of church and state” is not in the Constitution. These words were written by Thomas Jefferson when he wrote that First Amendment erected a “wall of separation: between the church and the state.

Most Americans do know that July 4 is our Independence Day but not too many know that September 17 is the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution. So it is in fact a holiday! [I didn’t even know this until I read about it - plus it's never usually given as a holiday!] {I’m passing on all this information to my kids too!}
So to celebrate Constitution Day on September 16, if you’re feeling really patriotic you can dress in red, white and blue on Friday!
Oh yes, there’s going to be a “recite of the Preamble at 2:00pm (Eastern Time). Apparently Americans all over the world will unite in the simultaneous recitation of the Preamble to the US constitution.
It’s going to be the first time it’s been done! And for those who didn’t know (I didn’t either) the Preamble is:
“We the People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish Justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
Now how cool is that? Sometimes we forget what freedom our Constitution allows us in this great country of ours. It's good to take time to remember this.
