I actually believed that the Palestinians could manage to not burn down synagogues when given the choice.

It does make me wonder though. If the Palestinians believe in G-d, as they so proudly claim, why do they do everything in their power to piss Him off? Burning down a house of G-d is certainly not the best way to give thanks.

You are right Andrew. I don't know what they hoped to accomplish by doing that. The Israelis didn't do it for the only reason that it would have been forbidden by Jewish Law.
At least the Palestinians waited for the Jews to leave the area and take the Holy books from the buildings that were burnt, that much I appreciate.
There will be hard feelings to overcome because of these actions, I just hope both sides eventually find a common bond to build the bridge of peace with.

I think the Palestinians will only view this as a battle won, but the war is not over. They will view this as a victory that will empower them to keep fighting. After all, they are not going to stop until they have kicked out the Jews from Jeruselem and the West Bank, and all of Israel, for that matter. Particularly now that Hamas is their leading voice. Nah, this won't lead to peace. It has just emboldened the militants. It is a sick joke. But, it's no joke.

Kind of animalistic.  Gorillas do that as well, beating the chest and thumping when they are boasting.  And they are too stupid to know that bullets are more deadly than super strength.

I thought the PA would protect the synagogues, just like the Israeli police protect mosques in Israel (they might not even have to). Whenever I assume equivalence between Israelis and Palestinians something like that comes along.

It was a given that as soon as the Israelis left, the synagogues would be the first to burn. That's what they do. They hate Jews. It's instilled into their minds from Day One. They learn it at school, and they believe with all their hearts that Jews are their blood enemies.

I am generalizing here, because I know that there are quite a few Palestinians who just want peace, who are willing to work with and live with Israelis. But, they are far from the majority. It's really sad. As a Jew, it's really hard for me to support the Palestinian cause. They've shown over and over and over again that they hate us, and will do whatever it takes to drive all Jews into the sea. It's pathetic.

Got to go with Dabe on this one. Palistinians are not celebrating a new found peace, they are celebrating one victory out of what they hope to be many. Surrender doesn't bring peace, only the short lived facade of it.
