Girls In Stocking Hats

I wrote this in New Orleans when I was aching for homestate MN! But this is the only poem I wrote that people actually responded specifically to.

Girls in Stocking Hats

I like girls in stocking hats,
Grandma knitted mittens
And getting first tracks.

Writing my name on frost covered glass,
It's these, that this city lacks.

I miss sledding hills,
and wind chills,
and times when mom and dad paid the bills.

I like girls in stocking hats,
Black coffee,
and cafe chats.

Writing your name in bathroom stalls,
Watching summer sunsets decay into fall.

I don't miss frost bite,
Or night lights,
Sibling fights, or anything like that...

But I do like girls in stocking hats.

I gotta admit, Ted, I've always liked this poem. I think it would go over well with a Minnesota crowd, just make sure you mention that you wrote it when you were in Nawlins.
Peace,
Chris

Yeah Chris, this is a personal favorite as well. Things are often better in their simplicity eh?

I dig the poem, and i like chics in stocking caps too... as long as they don't pack on too many extra lbs. due to the weather. I'll gladly keep the furnace turned up if that's what they need...

i'm terrible, i know...
