It amazes me that a Superpower can make such a mess of a disaster recovery! I sympathise with hero mayor Ray Nagin and his frustrations and sadness. Sorry to say it but I think the Governors of the affected areas were either asleep, playing poker or plain lazy. That goes for underqualified, inept FEMA too as I believe they denied the RED Cross access to N.O. at a critical time.

Everyone has written about this so I shall not go into details. All I'll say is: Some very big heads should roll (At least 3 governors--one who knew less facts and information than CNN did--should be fired sky high.). Come on guys, there are people out there sitting on their comfortable fat asses while a city died. FEMA man Brown has been found out but there are many more. America must wipe out complacency and get the right men in for the job.

Nagin is a hero. He was really hurt. What a man. The State governors, on the other hand, did not weep into the microphone. They were too busy, too complacent or plain ignorant. There are other higher-ups who need a real rev -up too. When the dirty washing is hung out I'll bet there are many people in higher office who slipped up too.

Shame on you all. Ray, you are in the Guiliani league!

This is a joke right? The fool who sat there, demanding Greyhound bring busses in from all over the country instead of using the busses that sat in his own city is a hero? The coward who knew that 100,000 people had no way to comply with his "mandatory evacuation", but ran his own butt to Baton Rouge is a hero? The stinking bit of rancid talloe that did absolutely nothing in preparation for a possible levee break, then when it occured whined like a baby about how no one would come do his job for him is a hero?

Yes, there were tragic mistakes made al the way up to FEMA, but the first line of responsibility for preparation and response in a disaster situation is the local leaders, and friend, Mayor Nagin was a textbook example of what no population deserves in a "leader".

You either have an excellent sense of irony or a completely moronic idea of what the word "Hero" means. Please tell me you are joking!!

I sure as hell hope so.....

He's an idiot, and he's now scrambling to place blame ANYWHERE but with himself, and you call him a hero?

Methinks you're a bit delusional...

Yes, it was sarcasm but no-one commented on Nagin's failings. You should explain if Nagin was too deep in the water (sic). Come on guys.
