Scoring question.. time?

I've heard in a few places that you get a higher score if you finish your game quicker? I'm wondering if that is true. I often take my time killing everyone, especially in the end game. IE, I'll push end turn 3 or 4 times, and then grab the piles of ships that have been made and move them, rather than moving them every turn.

I understand having fun is the most important, but if my score drops as the turns go by, I can certainly try to finish people off a bit quicker.

it depends, if you do it too fast you'll get a low score. But also if you take your time in winning when you could win much quicker your score will also be lower.

I don't think your score goes down if you keep hitting turn at the end. They just mean that you'll get less additional points if you keep pressing turn. For example if you win a game for 10k points, and then you reload the EndGameSave and then add 20 more turns on before winning you may get 100 points added. It should stay around the same score unless you build ships/wonders/improvements to boost your score.

Does the number of ships count towards your score?
I usually disband them when I no longer need them towards the end.

In the old scoring formula, your score is divided by the year of completion, so there is a bonus for finishing earlier. In the current system, don't think there is any bonus at all for speed. The best scoring games are medium in length.

Your score will not go lower. As St Blasius said, there is serious diminishing returns for pop score so you don't get a lot of points by just hitting turn at the end of the game.

There is no mention of the number of ships in the scoring system. So I don't think so.
