Screen resolution

If I start the game when running the system in 1280*1024, the screen gets garbled (horizontal line spliiting my screen in 2).

Is there anyway so that I don't have to first switch system resolution to 1024*768?

From what I've read in other threads complaining about this I don't think so, but I could be wrong

Interesting. I run in 1280x1024 and have never had any problem at all and I got one of the very first retail copies....my brother was in the beta/gamma. :D

What video card, version of Windows, and version of DirectX do you have installed?

And is it an LCD monitor? Some people have reported problems with those.  You might want to try running in windowed mode at 16 bit color depth.

To run in windowed mode, create an icon that points directly at the galciv.exe, and after the target put a w. 

So if your target path is

"C:\program files\stardock\drengin.net\galciv.exe"

it will now look like this:

"C:\program files\stardock\drengin.net\galciv.exe" w
